Hi Guys and Gals

I got this question just now and so I am wondering how many people there are who still do not know where to look for a persons website.

The reason we have a website is to share with the world and get traffic and get conversions - right?

The more places you have you website then the more people you will reach - right?

Here at WA we have an amazing platform and at the bottom of your profile page there is a place where you can put your website info and all your social info. The reason it is there is so that anyone from WA and have a look at what you are doing which makes sense.

The Majority of people at WA do in fact have their information under this heading at the bottom of their profiles which is called "Follow me on" But, some members do not have this which is their choice. And it appears that many members still are unaware of this function that WA offers.

It took me about six month before I actually found this function - as again so many things were missed in those early days!

So "Follow me on" is another great tail and right at the bottom of you page

All good fun

Paul

I have often wanted to check out someone's website and then found they don't have it listed under there. I guess some let it off on purpose and others don't know. Thanks Paul.

Hi Paul,

I have read this thread with great interest. I did know about this feature and wondered why a lot of people hadn't displayed their website or social media links. But reading some of the comments below, it is quite disturbing that in a paid for community such as this, people are still willing to copy / steal others hard work.

I know that Pat Flynn (whom many of you may have heard of) had his site copied, almost word for word. Even our own guru here at WA, Jay (Magistudios) had his Football Snack Helmet site copied.

I suppose as others have said, it will be down to the individual if they want to share links. It's just sad that we have to be on our guard like that.

I don't remember. I'll check on it now. OK it's there. I hope a lot of people read this article Paul because I have read many profiles that do not have a website address at the bottom. This always makes me wonder whether or not they built a site or are they just doing follows?

There are many more people who do not share that information than those who do. I always wondered why but some of the comments explain it. I'm not sure the reasoning is logical but at least there is an explanation.

Do people within WA actually "steal" other member's material? Anyone can google a niche and find a website to copy if they wanted to do that. It makes it sound like WA members don't have much integrity and I really don't believe that. But, I guess it does take all kinds and they are everywhere.

I don't think anyone could get very far with my information, so they can just go for it. My website and social media links are on my profile
Reply
paulgoodwin Premium
Yes and you can easily goole for anything you want and so I do not even think that a person would really be bothered still you never know!

You'd be surprised at the number of members who get their sites ripped off, not just occasional pieces of content but their entire sites copied and rebranded. The other issue is that when you have a successful site, 000s of Bootcampers link to it as an example of a site built at WA, causing issues with irrelevant backlinks, bounce rates and unrelated traffic, etc. etc.

OMG this is areal shock to hear buddy as I could not even imagine how it could be done!

This is more than awful, it seems to be a really bad internet world out there.

There are dozens of programs that will download any website in a matter of minutes and then allow you to upload it elsewhere.

Is this hacking or at least bordering hacking?

Yes. There are legitimate uses for such software, but often people use it to copy websites that they've no business copying!!

Paul - Thanks for the reminder. Maybe it should be in a more prominent place, so others particularly new comers could easily find the function. I didn't know it was there until you mentioned it in a previous post. Thanks for sharing.

Yep it is indeed there. Nonetheless, I would prefer to see that category more on top of the profile.
It would also be good to see it next here to the blog posts, which it isn't - it's only on your profile. How often do you actually click on view profile instead of read the blog? I just read a blog, see a picture of you, see the buttons to follow (and the blue view profile button). I see the other blogs you have written and that is it.

Would have been cool if a short intro bio would be previewed under your picture and the links would be displayed from your blogs just like it is on your own site.

I do not often have time for clicking through several pages... just want to read.. eventually look up your websites and read a small piece of bio and leave again. When I go through my email for blogs I skim through the most important or interesting subjects.. which I open in tabs in my browser. If I then also need to click view profile in separate tabs it gets chaotic really fast ;)

And on the profile, have you tried scrolling down to the links?
It keeps flipping away from me because more comments on the profile are being loaded in to the browser. Most irritating.

But I knew of the feature ever since the start. Its the sort of thing I expect to be there for any profile on any account site.

Thanks for making the other members attentive on the matter, because I want to see more people's sites and write feedback - even outside the feedback system.

Steven

I agree that it would be so useful to find more people who work in the same niche. I tend to 'trip over' them, as I don't have the time to trawl around looking for 'niche similar' websites. Many thanks, Sue :)
