So, What's With the Numbers?
Numbers can be very significant. Consider these numbers: 330, 45, 394, 269 to the average observer they appear random but to me they are most significant. Permit me to explain.
330 – the is the date 3/30/2015 that I joined Wealthy Affiliates and 45 is the number of days I have been a member. I have be stretched, I have worked long hours and I have enjoyed ninety-five percent of the time I have invested…there were a few frustrating times but the community jumped in when I asked for help and eventually we got the issues resolved.
Do I understand all of what I have done in the past 45 days, absolutely not! I am keenly aware that while I have created a website and managed a certain level of success, I did so by following a step by step process, not always knowing what I was doing but just doing it. I am convinced the understanding will come as I build other sites. I see this first site as my “maiden voyage” and have every expectation the future attempts will be much better executed.
So, what is the 394? Well, like all of you, I started out with some outrageously high rank. I don’t even remember any number above 2800. But over the past forty-five days, I have made a conscious effort to help others. I’ve created a pattern. I enter the site, check out my rank, then go to the notifications and pick one or two, at least, to whom I would like to respond. I first check out the individual’s profile…I want to see who the person is…do they have goals…are they “under the gun” as some would say…are they fighters. I’m always a sucker for a Mom trying to help her kids or husband carry the load; nevertheless, I always check out the person…this is a people business. Then I return to their question to see if I think I have the skills to answer it. I look to see if others have already addressed the person’s concerns. If there are other answers that I agree with, I usually just move on and find another person to help.I figure, if two is good enough for Amway and Jesus “go out two by two”, then its good enough for me. I am not obsessed with getting a lower rank, I just use it as a gauge of my commitment to the process and to others and I am getting better at efficiently engaging others prior to getting to my own training and website building.
Now to the big number, 269. What could 269 possibly represent? Well, this number breaks a major barrier for me. I have, in my many years, been exposed to many, many different “marketing” companies and their various scams; hence, at the beginning of my exposure to Wealthy Affiliates, I made a commitment to myself that, while WA has what seems to be a great affiliate program, I would not tell any of my friends, associates, etc. about WA until I had broken this major barrier; therefore, you might note that my WA affiliate number is still 300 and I have not reviewed one lesson of the Wealthy Affiliate Boot Camps…why, you ask? Because I’m not here to promote a “money making scheme”, I’m here to make money.
Now if someone said, I’d like to learn about building websites, SEO, plugins, widgets, Facebook, Google+, Twitter, etc. from my first day, I would absolutely refer them to Wealthy Affiliates...but I don’t run into people who are looking for that type of education. Most people I know need to improve their financial status and since I’ve had no experience with Wealthy Affiliates doing that, I couldn’t make that referral
…UNTIL YESTERDAY. Yesterday, my daughter looked at my website and found a beautiful white lace corset holster she just loved and BOUGHT IT!!!! So, the 269 is actually $2.69 which is my first sale and breaks the barrier for me to begin learning about promoting Wealthy Affiliates.
Since my twenties I have always loved guns…yep, I said it. I have been a target shooter since my youth and I have concealed carry since my first permit was issued in 1984…probably more years ago then many of you have life in you. My father was a master machinist, as was one of my brothers. During college, I also worked in a steel mill but then went off to become a doctor. I have often made the comment I believe there must be steel chips in my blood because of my appreciation for metal craftsmanship. I love the feel and detail of a beautifully crafted weapon. I love the weight and the look. I’m sure some of you will think I’m a bit nuts, that’s ok…some of you probably hug trees, whereas, I just look at them and eat their fruit if available…in some things, to each his own.
So here I am, a semi-retired health care professional with thirty years of practice under my belt and I’m building a website related to holsters, safety and concealed carry and I love it. It is fun! I so want to help others to be safe in this most dangerous world we live in…would that the whole world was as gracious and courteous and kind to each other as the members of Wealthy Affiliates. This experience has truly been a blessing to me.I hope it provides for you what it has for me.
So, what are your thoughts?
Enjoy!
Papa Dave

wow what a wonderful concept, well put together, I marvel at people that can just put a story together at the drop of a hat, the only thing I might comment on if I may is the 330 in aussie land that would have been 303 just saying cheers Helen
Thanks Helen for your comments! So you are saying March 30th in the United States would, in Aussie land, have been March 3rd? I have to admit, I'm not quite sure how that works. I wish you the best.
My thought are you are accomplishing in the area of passion. Can't go wrong there!

That is a terrific post, Papa Dave. You have a natural way of writing which I like. Your piece made me laugh when you described your love of guns. My husband could have written that himself. I'm checking out your site now and sharing it with him.

Thanks, Karen! I really appreciate your feedback and I certainly hope your husband enjoys the site.
