Have Lost My Way!

Hi everyone,

This post is a bit of a downer. So apologies before I begin.

I came back here to work on my site three months ago as I wanted to make another go at this, and make it work

I started to tinker with my site, (yet again), and I do feel that it is better for it. Although it can be better I know.

Writing my first ebook

I then became distracted again, and worked on a genealogy for beginners book. Took me nearly 3 weeks to plan it out and write. And took me a while to set everything up behind it.

I make a bit of money from my affiliate links from my blog, but not as much as I would hope, and I thought that the ebook would lift things up.

I've hired someone to fix up my sales page as I was getting some hits but no one buying. But now I'm not seeing many people checking out my freebie ebook that leads to my ebook.

When will I get it right?

In the back of my mind, I always felt that one more tweak and I would get it right. That's what I have been doing since I started here, with my posts, site, and whatever.

But now I'm feeling what will it take to make things works. I seem to have lost my way, and don't know what my audience wants or needs.

I guess I have to go back to training again and learn what I have learned before and maybe this time I will get it over.

Thanks for reading my moaning. I just needed to let it out.

Owain, I've had those type of feelings myself. When I thought I had it all together, (but a tweak, tweak here, a tweak, tweak there, here a tweak, there a tweak...everywhere a tweak, tweak!) It was still something more I kept learning and adding.

Once you get to the point there is no more you can adjust or add, (I think the final phase should be an email marketing campaign) then you'll know then you're ready!

I've been tweaking everywhere that I can think of. The latest has been fixing up rich snippets for my posts. So hopefully that will make a difference, (when Google notices it).

Got my email marketing campaign fixed up. Been tweaking with that constantly as well.

Right now I need to fix up my sales page for my new ebook with a new layout. Hopefully, that will bring in sales.

What is your product? Do you feel good about what you're promoting? Is there a demand for it? (You may want to look into that as well)

I'm in the genealogy niche, which is very popular. I'm particularly looking at helping beginners and giving plenty of tips and advice, as well as reviews of products and services.

Recently launched an ebook, and have made a sale. So, that's encouraging ;-)

Keep persevering, my friend! If at first you don't succeed, try and try again! Only those who quit really lose!

Jeff

Thanks Jeff. I'll keep chugging away.

You're very welcome, Owain! Keep pushing along! You'll ge there, my friend!

Jeff

I have literally just done the same thing with my Site...

...Back to the Drawing Board after having some very honest feedback which I really appreciated. Because I thought what I had was looking really good so far. How wrong I was.

If it had not been for the brutal honesty, I would have carried on oblivious and it could have potentially ended very badly with Amazon.

Think about it this way; whatever field/job you end up going into, you don't turn up on your first day and #SmashItOutThePark. No, you work, train, learn, improve & repeat.

I bet, nearly everyone on here has been in this very situation, but when you fail, you pick yourself up, dust yourself down & get right back on the horse & try again.

Hopefully, this has given you a bit of motivation.

Take care & believe in yourself and remember, nothing is IMPOSSIBLE...

... Just break it down into its parts & it becomes I'M POSSIBLE.

Regards,

Chris

Thanks Chris, I appreciate the kind words.

It's been hard to make this dream of working from home come true. And I want it so much.

I have put a lot of effort into it, and I don't/can't throw that away.

It can be difficult at times to know what direction to go in next, and right now I am feeling a little lost.

I'll get there I know.

Thank you again.

Mate, we've all been through it. Persevere, even if you have to rip it all down and start again. Every setback is a learning experience. And it's really, really hard... until suddenly it's not 😍.

Thanks Phil. I've been working on my site for nearly 6 years, and have tweaked it quite a lot since I started.

As I have tweaked it I felt that this is it, this is what will do it to make my site get noticed. But then after a while, I see something else that needs tweaking.

I know that my site isn't perfect. But at this time I don't know which move to make next.

Think I need to figure out where my audience is, (i.e. forums, facebook groups), and see what they need. And then deliver it.

Thanks again.

Sounds like a plan, Owain.
