Long and winding road... where will it lead us?

I just crossed the 2 month threshold at WA but I must tell you it feels like it's been longer. I expect that most of us here at WA feel the same way. There just seems to be no end to the copious information and training but we never seem any closer to the money. I admit its still early in the game and I have a long way to go before success comes. I am careful to follow each and every lesson as it is mapped out. It's slow going and sometimes it's a little boring, but I keep one foot in front of the other and walk further through the maze because the clearing is just around the next corner. I have no intention of throwing in the towel.

At the risk of sounding like I'm bragging I have 55 new registrants on my site. This is my first LIST which will come in very handy down the road for my campaigns. I must be doing something right to watch my rank go from 3300 just two months ago to 126 where it now sits.

A little friendly advice:

Complete all the lessons and tasks in sequential order

Attend Friday night live training sessions frequently

Rely on the the WA community for help and support

Ignore those who drag you down and discourage you

Take pride in small progress

Write blogs often

Begin writing Street Articles to improve your Google rank

Share your posts with social networks

Work on your website daily

Meet whatever deadlines your site visitors have come to expect to maintain their trust

Bring It To Into The Light:

I wish to bring something to the WA communIty forefront without throwing anyone under the bus. It disturbs me to learn that there are some negative members here at WA which will remain nameless because I don't play a tit-for-tat game. But they seem to take pleasure in destroying the confidence of others by severely criticizing their websites. There are Webmasters and Web Design experts among us whom I have relied on from time to time for assistance, but I am not one of them and I expect neither of these critical people are either. If we are not experts on building websites then we should be more compassionate toward our members and their efforts.

This is not a social media network in the same manner as others who allow a person to say whatever they want to at the expense of others. Here at WA we are a community of colleagues. We are here to help, assist, and support the other members. I accept that we have to be able to sort the chafe from the wheat. That's easier for some than it is for others. For some members they get hurt by the negativity that surrounds them.

Everyone here is sacrificing time, energy, and social engagement outside this online community. Some of us actually bring their friends and family members into the WA arena from the outside. While I've been here these last couple months I have made friends in the community. I'm going to share a little with you about one very good friend I have made in this community who will remain nameless so as not to embarrass him.

He was sailing along very nicely with the building of his website when he reached an area he had little knowledge of or skill in completing. He had been following my progress since the outset and reached out to me for help since I had progressed through the lessons a little farther than he had. Then something changed in him. He was absolutely discouraged and believed his website was sub-standard in comparison to others. He was considering quitting the program. I was remiss to identify what had changed. With a lot of encouragement I was able to keep him here; for now.

I suspect he was the lucky recipient of some of that negative feedback I mentioned above. For him, and I'm sure for many others, the thought of quitting is forever underneath the surface. I admit I have had those thoughts from time to time. This program can prove grueling and the information overwhelming at times. As we struggle to remain focused, committed, and determined to see it through, we don't appreciate being knocked off our feet.

I have worked the grind for enough years to recognize the bullies. They're in the workplace whether we want it or not. WA is our workplace and no one has the right to make it a hostile one.

I suggest that as we look at and explore the websites of those around us we do it with kindness. We look for something positive to comment on. If there is some way we can offer help that may increase success, we need to be diplomatic and realize we are all in the same boat here. None of us has reached the elusive success we crave yet.

So for those who take pleasure in seeing others fail; Mind your own website and stop picking on the others around you. Come out from your wall of anonymity and show us your website so we can judge what you have poured your heart and soul into. Leave those comments on those other social networks because there is no place for them here at WA.

We all entered into the same agreement with WA, for the same reason and, we have all paid the same amount of tuition. We are all sacrificing a lot with little reward for the time being. Comments such as I have been so fortunate to receive recently have the ability to send a less confident member packing.

Remember, Kyle and Carson are the ones making the bigs bucks here. They are attempting to make that possible for our members. They have given up their time and spent considerable money to make us all proud to call Wealthy Affiliiate home.

Remember to take all comments into consideration but throw those that hinder your progress out. Focus on those that drive your success forward. While it's true that we grow from diversity, condemnation can destroy that growth if we are not careful.

Best of luck to my fellow colleagues here at WA. Sort the chafe from the wheat and remain strong because we can all do this with a little help from your friends.

Excellent post Marion. In the short time I have been at WA I've always felt like it's the last bastion for the budding marketer. A place of neutrality where support and encouragement is at the fore. For someone to actually take the time to be critical is beyond me.
In truth I feel sorry for those that may exude negativity because they just don't realise what affect their words can have on others. Nevertheless all in all I believe we have a great bunch of people here, people who take time to help and guide and for that I am so thankful.

Cheers Russ

thank you for your comment Russ

a very good post and feel a bit sad that this has to be said, I have been fortunate that those I have come across so far have been helpful and kind, I am very aware that I lack a lot of the skills many members have I am grateful that there are those who are willing to help, Kyle and Carson want this to be a good place to be and have integrity, lets hope the negative vibes stay away

katie,

well put. thank you for responding to my post

Marion - what a great post! To be honest I normally shy away from reading posts when they are too long but yours kept me going to the end. I love the tips at the beginning; I am still in my first month and, as you say, there is so much to take in that no one needs knocking down when they are probably already frustrated by the sheer volume of information. Thank you, Paul.

Welcome to WA and thank you for reading the entire post. I wish you the best of luck. We truly are a great community here.

Great words and well written Marion, I agree totally. There is absolutely no place for negativity here and those that indulge in doing so in fact, says more about them than the members they criticize. Words of encouragement are what would read better here. Simon

simon,

thank you for taking the time to comment on this post.

Thank you for reminding the negative nannies WHY we are here!

You're very welcome! Best of luck to you.

I had actually considered quitting, $50/mo is significant for me at the time. Then I remembered who gets half of that money and how well she has treated me during my journey and was reminded why we are all here. We are here to help each other and to better our own lives in the process. Thanks for this post, it is well written and well needed. Also, thanks for your support.

Thanks, Michael

Michael,

I'm so glad you are still here at WA and didn't get frightened away. Yes, there are others in our own families who count on the success as well as us. Sometimes we need to be reminded of that.

Thank you for reading the post and for taking the time to respond. I wish you the best of luck here and in your life.

Sincerely, Marion

Well said, I have gone through periods of doubt myself. But then I remind myself that this is an education, and not some earning program.

My first site does not seem to ranking at all, but I have decided that it will be my learning experience. I am going to complete the bootcamp training until the end, and then start with a new site if I have to.

I have also listed one of the cons in my WA review - that I have learned to be careful of which advice I follow. I have seen some members being a bit too critical in their comments on websites, but when I follow them I realise they still have not finished their own sites!

The constant advise from Kyle seems to be that we should keep producing content. Anyone who feels discouraged should just move and focus on more content. Don't get stuck trying to perfect your first post.

And that's my 2cents worth!

You are so right. Good luck with your site and I would love to take a look. Please send me the link. Thank you for your response to my post.

Beautifully written and in your usual professional manner. This is a writing that so many should be reading and heeding. I understand everything written here and as the recipient of much help I say a huge thank you. Yes negativity does knock you around believe me and I think all newies and some not so new can benefit from positivity (is that a word) and can be shattered by negativity. Am i the member referred to? I leave that to you to decide lol

Neil, my dear friend,

Thank you for taking the time to read and respond to my post. It took courage to identify yourself but I thank you for that. Together we can build bridges that make the effort worthwhile.

We're a good team.

With warm regards, Marion

Great advice. Everyone needs a helping hand from time to time, just make sure it's a helping hand up and not down.

This is so true. Thank you for your comment. Good luck to you.

Bravo!

Thank you.
