Business Growth Strategy- The Slight Edge Tactic

One easy to use business growth strategy is based on a book I read by Jeff Olson called "The Slight Edge". Now when I first started my online business I just had recently quit Amway, and I was ready to dive head first into going into business for myself. There is nothing wrong with Amway, in my personal opinion Amway is a great company, just not the right fit for me.

When I had quit Amway I kept the business model they gave me with all of the projected profits for each new member. Now when I went into business for myself I told myself that I would match Amway dollar for dollar for their projected views. Thinking I was setting some reasonable goals for myself but what ended up happening was not good.

I was spending to much money on ads and marketing because I wanted to grow my business quick! I was very impatient and I wanted result now. After about a month my business really wasn't doing any better.

What I realized was that I needed to set my own passe, then I remembered "The Slight Edge " and the main message of the book was that if you do a little bit everyday rather than run yourself ragged you will find more balance in life and be able to achieve anything you want in life.

So I set daily and weekly goals for myself that weren't too overwhelming and I finally have a controlled budget for my marketing. Doing a little bit everyday is all you need, remember you need to enjoy your life! I found that I'm in control of my business not the other way around! Growing a business is running a marathon not a 100 meter dash.

Cheers Nicholas

Kaizen :-)

A little time each day on on excellent content can prove incredible.

Bravo Nicholas! We all need to read your blog today! You are so young yet have learned an incredible building block of a successful business. You will go far and I think that is fantastic! I tend to push myself! It's an affliction of us restless, impatient boomers! :-)

After reading your words, realized that if I don't slow down, could possibly burn myself out!. Thought I had everything under control however; have been putting in 10-12 hours a day. Granted, not all on WA since I do an incredible amount of research as a Holistic Health Practitioner.I do need to take it down a notch. Thank you for sharing today my friend!

Thanks for taking the time to comment!

Awesome stuff

Great Blog!

Great! And so true : ) Thanks for sharing your learning experience.

Great Post! Balance is key. Thank you for that.

Hi Nicholas....Excellent post and right on time for me. As I have said quite a few times since I have been here, I have a habit of becoming overwhelmed quickly. It is so easy to get caught up in any given task and spend too much time on it. I agree with your approach...a little bit at a time...and always move forward.

That is a very good concept. February has been all about finding a good balance with everything here and life in general. Using a weekly plan has helped me tremendously as well this year.

Good job, I would spend more on creating content than PPC ad dollars.

Good to hear, its tough trying to budget yourself when your really not sure about what your net profit is going to be for the month
