Hey there!
Does SiteComments work with the Disqus plugin?
If not, can we implement this as Disqus is a way better plugin than Wordpress' original commenting syste
Hey Nico, how's wpDisqus working out for you? I have just discovered Disqus and I'm thinking of using it but want to see how others have fared first.
Cheers
Femi
SiteComments doesn't work with Disqus as the comments are stored in different places.
Disqus does have a guest posting option so there's no need for an account, although there's a lot of sign-in options now.
The better Disqus plug-in to use is Disqus Conditional Load, which along with disabling sync in the settings will keep things nice and fast.
The Disqus hub lets you track every conversation you're having from one place and you can also post replies without re-visiting the original website (although you can do that too). It makes management easy if you use a lot of sites.
If you want to import your WordPress comments over to Disqus and you use WA's hosting you'll have to do it manually though.
So, pros and cons as usual. I've been a Disqus user for years so it made sense for me, for you it might be another story. Your call.
Great info Cirian, thanks!
I love the design of Disqus. It's just beautiful compared to what we usually have.
I know of Conditional Load which is great!
I've gone with wpDiscuz for now but thanks!
The problem with Disqus is that if someone doesn't already have an account, are they going to be willing to sign up for one just to leave a comment on your website?
The great thing about the built in Wordpress comments system is that anyone can comment on the fly, they don't need to register to do so.
Definitely a good point and something I will have to consider.
You can sign up with Facebook which makes everything easier although your point is strong and I might just have to search for a plugin that makes Wordpress Comments a lot better than what it is now.
