A Sad Day!

Quote of the Day:

"A mother is she who can take the place of all others but whose place no one else can take." Cardinal Meymillod

Today Monday 6, November my dear mother passed away. She was admitted to the hospital on Thursday 21, September 2023 with pneumonia then she became septic. She was treated with powerful antibiotics and she was weathering her storms. After about four weeks of treatment she was about to be transferred to the rehab to continue the treatment and to get therapy to help with her walking because she had broken her hip last year.

Unfortunately, she never made it to rehab. On the day she was to be transferred, she had a line put in to continue her antibiotics. My mother never woke up after the simple procedure. She went into cardiac arrest. She was revived and then put on a respirator and transferred to the ICU where she remained unresponsive for eighteen days.

Today she was taken off of the respirator and she passed within minutes. She lived for 82 years. She fought the good fight . She was sick for over ten years and the last three years she became a dialysis patient. May she rest in peace. "Life doesn't come with a manual, it comes with a mother." Unknown

Thank you mom for always being there when I needed you! You will be greatly missed by your family and friends. "When you look into your mother's eyes, you know that is the purest love you can find on this earth." Mitch Albom

"Mother's love is peace. It need not be acquired, it need not be deserved." Erich Fromm

Kind regards,

Nichola

I'm so sorry you had to say good-bye. I've had to do that already, and while the pain eases, the void is never filled because there's no one else in the world who can replace your Mom.

So instead you think of all the happy memories now. You share the funny stories and quirks and all the special things that made her so special. Later you'll analyze the whole journey over and over again, questioning the decisions you made and wondering how you could have done anything differently to change the outcome. Finally you will realize that you made the best decisions you could at the time and that you can't change anything, so you accept it. That revelation could take months or years to arrive, so be patient with yourself.

You were fantastic, taking care of her like that, when most kids turn it over to someone else to do. But you were always there when she needed you most. Sadly, this experience is part of life. May happy memories comfort you now.

Hi Jeannine!

Thank your very much for your words of wisdom and comfort! They are greatly appreciated.

Wishing you the very best!

Kind regards,
Nichola

I lost my folks early on. But yes you realize that we all say goodbye sooner or later. As you have so aptly pointed out Jeannine, think instead of the happy times. We are all here for but a whisper. I am part of a Facebook group called The Rainbow Bridge. It's for people who have lost their dogs. It's always so hard. So I offer them the following: "I have come to think that they are with us for such a short time to teach us to love as much as we can...while we can. And remember too that we all meet again".

Grant

Hi Nichola, so sorry to hear of your loss.
I send these words to comfort you, written by a cousin for her mother's funeral...
"Your mother is always with you. She's the smell of certain foods you remember, flowers you pick and the fragrance of life itself. She's the cool hand on your brow when you're not feeling well. She's your breath in the air on a cold winter's day, and the sound of the rain that lulls you to sleep. She is Christmas morning. Your mother lives inside your laughter. She is the place you came from; your first home, and she's the map you follow with every step you take. She's your first love, your first friend, even your first enemy, but nothing on earth can separate you--not even death. You carry her inside you."

Hi Nichola.

Paul Mindra here from Canada.

I am sorry for your loss. My mother passed back in 2018. She was also 82 years of age.

Her battle was with dementia and Alzheimer's.

A mother's love can never be replaced. It is a pillar on which we as children build.

Again, my sincerest condolences.
Paul.

Peace, love, and light, Nicola.
Losing Mom for me was hard.
Dad was not so much as hard.

From honest to God to back here, Nicola.

On September 18, I went to see my mother. It was my date of birth. That was the year 2023.

She understood but took me for her brother rather than her son.

She passed on September 21.

Listen, Nichola.
All is actually good.

We can not bring back death to life.
You are kind, and life will continue.
Do not forget that you are Nichola.

Be strong.
One death is the beginning of another birth.

Stay focussed, Nichola.

We love you.

Paul from Canada.
