The Secret to Building a Million $ Online Business! well one of them secrets, at least.
According to OptinMonster 70% of your visitors will abandon your site never to return.
That means, out of 10,000 visitors to your site, you are letting 7,000 of those potential customers simply walk out the door. Do you agree, that SUCKS big time!
Nobody is happy to look at their site statistics and see that 7 out of 10 NEVER come back? Are you happy not to do a damn thing about it? Im not!
You may be divided between whether you want to load a plugin which pops up when a visitor attempts to leave. You, like me may find it somewhat irritating when you have come onto a site and you try to leave in peace, only to be confronted by a popup, offering some irresistible thing. How many times have you actually stopped and subscribed to the offer? If you haven't then stop reading now and. Click the back button and go read something else, because this isn't for you. :)
OK so now that we are rid of the 'abnormal people' we can continue. Right, so one of these popups have made you subscribe to a newsletter or a juicy looking download which tickles you interest. In return you opted your email address onto an approved mailing list....which you can opt out of at any time.
BUTTT... because of the irritation or inconvenience you have experienced, and because you think it makes your site spammy, you may have decided. ‘Never will I put a pop up on my site, wadda wadda, fishpaste.....’ Hummm, Think again my friends!
If those hated and irritating popups were not effective then, why are there so many around. Even on respected sites?
There are case studies that show that 15% of abandoning visitors have been converted into customers by using this technique. Work that out! How much money is that? "ahh whats 15%" I hear someone say! "I am willing to lose 15%, just to have a clean, popup free site." So lets take a closer look.
You generate 10 000 visitors over a period. Let’s say you are new at this (like me) and you have only had 10 000 visitors over a period of a year. That means 7,000 are about to click out of your site, but you manage to retain 10% (not 15%, because we are newbies) of 7,000 as customers. That according to my math converts 700! How much is 700 customers worth to you? I see some of the naysayers are paying attention now!
Lets say you really really suck (like me) because you are new at online marketing, and out of that 10% (700) you only actually sell to 10% (70). What is that worth to you? I suspect it may add up to a couple of $ in your pocket. 70 Sales is only 1% of the 7 000 that were on their way out the door. 1% of the original ended up in sales. Do you agree that 1% is ridiculously low and should be very easy to obtain?
Now lets say you sold 70 this year, 70 next year and 70 the year after. You have 210 customers who WERE busy, WALKING OUT THE DOOR, that you would never have seen again! Remember, we are not talking about the 30% who originally hung around and looked a bit interested.
The beautiful part of this story is. Out of 700, you have sold 70 which means you have 630 potential customers in your database. You can now go back to the drawing board and come up with something more attractive, without spamming them to death with rubbish. In addition to that. Nobody is stopping you from marketing other products to your customers from time to time.
The problem comes in paying for the monthly subscription to OptinMonster, which eats away at your profit.
OptinMonster will cost you $29/month!
That adds up so, I went looking around for an alternative for you, my friends.
I found a whole stack of junk but, the following may be worth a second take.
Thrive Leads
Thrive Leads seems to have most if not all that OptinMonster has to offer. The beauty about it is it is, a once off fee of $67. If you want to check it out, Google Thrive Leads.
Ninja Popups
This one is only $25 once off. It may be missing some of the functionality of the top dog popups but geez... It's cost to purchase is less than one month at OptinMonster and it looks pretty good to me. What do you think? Google Ninja Popups if you want to check it out.
Are there others worth checking out?
Im hoping, you got something out of this blog and please drop me a comment even if you completely disagree.
In other words. If you like, hit the 'Like' button and comment. If you absolutely hate it, hit the ‘Sucks’ button and comment.... Oh you cant find that one. Oh well, at least you can still comment. :)
If you have ideas on boosting your retention. Lets hear about it.
