Progress Despite Facebook

Well I have finally gone through and set up the skeleton for my website and it is online now. Now I just need to fill in the skeleton with content and literally flesh it out into a presentable site. As soon as I have it presentable I'll be listing it under my websites along with my first site, www.swordtechnique.net.

It took me a LOT longer than I anticipated to set up the website, due in large part to the social activities I got sucked into as well as the discovery of a facebook game by the name of 'Green Space'. Sadly, while I am rarely sucked into facebook games this one did me in big time. You basically clean up all the little squares on a planet and recycle all the garbage that is littering the planet. You gain resources and money which you then use to build and expand. It is quite satisfying to get everything all cleaned up, therein lies the draw of the game I believe. It was quite fun to play though. :) I thoroughly enjoy it and thankfully got over the game for the most part (only logging in once a day now rather than multiple times a day).

I need to be more deliberate about my Internet Marketing, though as I do want to get this website up and running by the end of December and to the point where I primarily only have to post blog updates and occasionally add a static page.

Does anyone have any ideas for organizing my website development? Please comment and feel free to give me insight if you do. :)

Both my sisters get into that notorious "Farmville." My younger one is obsessed with that game! She is on it most of the day and what a colossal waste of time!

My aunt had me get into a Solomon such and such game, which is bible-based. I thought, that shouldn't be so bad.

Another horrible time suck! That facebook account is now deleted and I have a new one ONLY for business use. Facebook is the number one source of free-time occupation since the inception of "gentlemen's sports" in the 19th century! It will surprise you how many people's lives are wrapped up in those Facebook games!

I enjoy gaming myself, but I rarely play them. I have too many things on my plate...

Not making money yet online.
No income
Must keep up my education!
Must be more diligent in adding content regularly

There's no time for games now.

Great post!

Great to hear that you that you have been able to pull away from Facebook and get the skeleton of your website complete. When designing your website I suggest that you make it an ongoing task. A website should never be "complete", it should continue to have content added to it regularly so that you can grow, offer better content for your readers, and gain exposure in the search engines.

One thing that you can do while you are just getting the site up and running is to first focus on the core page of your site.

I'm talking about the homepage, about me, contact, privacy, blog. Once you've got those pages with some content then you can start creating pages and posts that focus on particular keywords.

One method of building out your site can be to publish 2 articles on a directory like Street Articles for ever 1 page that you add to your site. This way you grow your SEO reach from your articles and build your website content at the same time.

2 articles
1 web page or blog post

That is a formula for success right there!

Awesome! Thanks for the tip. I reckon I'll sit down with bubbl.us and see if I can figure out a plot that gives me a roughly 2:1 ratio for the site. With my first site I was unsure of the proper ratio I'd need.

The ratio of 2:1 helps you grow your reach with Articles, and gives your site new content as well. Many Articles can point to the same page, but if you keep building your website while you publish articles then eventually your website will start getting ranked its self and you can then adjust the ratio to say 1:1. In time, your site will rank very well on its own and you can do 1:2.
