Don't Mistake The Fruit For The Root
Most people mistake the goals that they are trying to achieve in life for the purpose of their entire life.
I have heard it a 1,000 times from friends , TV stars , " I thought my goals would bring me happiness, but come to find out, I'm not any happier as when I first started."
You hear it all the time,go out and achieve your goals, and when your done achieving those, move on to the next one. The cycle goes on and on.
As if the purpose of life is to achieve all of our goals, which in turn, unconsciously we think achieving our goals will bring us all of the happiness life has to offer.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
My number one question I ask folks when they start talking about goals and reaching higher stations in life is :
What is Your Major Definite of Purpose in life ?
Most of us confuse our goals with our major definite of purpose in life .
Let me be the first to tell you right here and now a goal is very different than your major definite of purpose, even though your goals support your major definite purpose. They are still different.
Just like the root of an apple tree is different than the apples it produces, even though the apple is the product of the root of the tree.
It's the same with your goals and your major definite of purpose.
Dr. Napoleon Hill Defined a major definite of purpose as follows :
"Definite Major Purpose is the why of your life. the reason for your being . There is a difference between your purpose and your goals. Your purpose is never achieved but lived out. The reason behind your goals is to focus your effort on achieving a desire need, your definite major purpose. Purpose is a life-long journey and transcends any selfish interests. Purpose is the context or foundation for life. Goals are the answer to "what" you wish to accomplish in your life. "
Questions your Major Definite of Purpose Should Answer :
1. Why do I exist
2. Where am I going
3. Whom do I serve and why ?
4. What do I have to offer?
5. What are my current and projected outcomes ?
Does your goals support your major definite of purpose, or is it just another goal ?

There are short term goals and long term goals, but I agree. One should not confuse goals with ones life destiny and purpose in life.
Thanks Omars for reading and commenting .. Truly goals are different than our purpose in life .. Sometimes I see people get these mixed up ..
