The New SEO Rules
Hello Friends and Extended Family,
I hope everyone had a restful weekend and is all geared up for the coming week! Some useful thoughts:
I don't know if you are familiar with Brian Dean from Backlinko - he is a wonderful expert on SEO. I was reading an article he recently wrote where he talks about Google and SEO and Ranking.
Wonder of wonders - would you believe that his #1 recommendation, in light of the new Google rules on just about everything web-related, is to REVAMP your older posts!!
He spoke about the fact that we need to make sure that our content:
- is relevant
- is conversational
- is using key word - long and short tail
- that our images are being further described with Alt text
- and resubmitted to Uncle G!
It was just like a confirmation of the current training group 'home work assignment' that I am currently doing. I was surprised. But it just goes to show that my mentor is also on the ball!
I was also reading another article byAdriana Tica of SiteProNews, and she was also talking about Uncle G and his changes.
Her tips were:
- RankBrain is now the master for SEO - a new Google algorithm in how we use our keywords and how we 'think like a human' when writing our content, i.e. conversational
- organic ranking - make sure that our content is relevant and useful, as well as more than 300 words
- be more conversational - especially with the new voice activation breakthrough - think Siri and Alexa - content is not just about keywords but how they sound as if someone was actually speaking.
- in-depth content - the more detailed, the better...and remember the relevance of your theme
- mobile friendly - yes, Google now has two different access directories - mobile and desktop - with people having more access to smart phones, mobile is 'the way to go' and Uncle G has taken notice.
Well, that's it in a nutshell.
Take some time to revamp your old post, resubmit to Google, and ensure going forward that the new posts follow the same guidlelines.
Much success
Michelle

Help in keeping up with new trends is always valuable. Does anyone else notice that many of these tips re-state what we learn here, about how to produce great content?
Yes indeed, J. We do get current training and updated information. We just need to use it to be the best on our journey to success.

That’s great Michele,
I am just starting to beef-up my content.
I know Brian Dean from backlinko.. he’s quite a strategist when it comes to SEO back link, I am his fan.
Also, regards about conversational blog.. any good training on this or should we start to talk to Siri and Alexa to get them to train us, how to write conversational blog.
John.
Too funny, J - about Siri and Alexa...yes, maybe they ought to hold a training session...lol.
Much success.

This is very helpful. Jay uses the expression of rinsing our posts. It appears that we need to be continually doing this. Thank you for the information.
You're welcome, T. That's an interesting term to use, but you certainly get the 'drift' of the intention.

Excellent point Michelle, I also heard that RankBrain has taken over for SEO, and our conversational writing plays a much more important role than only the keywords themselves.
Uncle G can decipher who is looking at the rankings and takes this into consideration. In fact, I have heard that two different people can use the same computer and view the same article for rankings, and see two different results.
Hey there, K.
How are you doing? Up a bit late for you, I think?? Yes, Uncle G is really shaking up things and ensure that the user gets what he/she needs and more!
Be well.
