If you can't do, teach - an affiliate marketing myth

This is a myth... a put down to teachers
"If you can't do, teach. If you can't teach, teach teachers"

There are people who expect to figure out how to make 6 figures in a business within a few months knowing nothing about it.

Well the truth is, the only ways I think you're going to make money is to:
1) scale
2) partner
3) teach or manage

All of these take time. There is an old saying that 9 women can't make a baby in a month. It's also true in project management. You can't build a business from zero working 80 hours a week for 6 weeks for several reasons:
1) The search engines don't know who your are
2) Your customers don't know who you are
3) And you don't know how to communicate with either, because you don't know who they are (yet)

Let me give you an example. I follow an SEO expert named Julian Goldie. Julian used to post 1-2 long videos on SEO every. single. day. He has a huge following. And he does some affiliate marketing, but mostly touts his own digital products and services.

Then AI came along and turned SEO upside down (it's still relevant IMHO by the way). So he pivoted to making videos on breaking AI news. He comes out within a few hours of announcements by Google, OpenAI, Grog, etc with videos showing how these things work. And his training pivoted to that.

So here he is. Search engines know him because he's been at this for years. People know him as an SEO expert. And he figured out that these people went from building simple posts with links in them to needing to use AI to scale.

And he followed it and the search engines didn't miss a beat.

Lesson? Simple. It's all about your reputation. Reputations take time.

If a guy came to your door looking bedraggled and told you he had a product that would change your life? You'd slam the door on him.

What if it former president Obama? Or LeBron James?? You may not like either of them, but you'd LISTEN!

Think about it.

Onward!

Great message here Michael. Reputations take a lot of time to accrue, and they are based on your ability to help others out and your ability to teach, engage and entertain. That reputation will follow you from thing to thing, and that is why you see those on social media able to create "billion dollar' drink companies, from these pivots.

Create your brand, and the doors of opportunity really start to open up. Great message here! :)

It's like you're selling stuff at the flea market. It's really transient so no one trusts you. But if you show up week after week and people like what you're doing, you start to build a clientele.

The internet is like a flea market. Cheap enough that a lot of people can check in and check out at the drop of a hat. So no one wants to put themselves out there just because you're selling something.

Great message, Michael!

I'm staying at it and watching my views/visits slowly grow :)

So true, Michael!
