What’s Your Hurry?

As I sat in front of my computer, seemingly trying to decide what to do, as I just got up from a longer Power Nap, as I worked 13 hours just the day before, trying to finish the delicious cup of coffee I just made, a music played in the background, -“ Cat’s in the Cradle” - about a father and son who sort of exemplified the hurried-life problem.

The father is away traveling when his newborn was learning how to walk. Later, he doesn’t have time to play ball with his son, but he keeps promising they’ll get together eventually. And the refrain goes “When you coming home, Dad?/ I don’t know when, but we’ll have a good time then, Son/ You know we’ll have a good time then.” Only to make it worse, that by the end, the son winds up like his dad - with a hurried life and no time to see or connect with the old man, who now longs to spend time with his son.

I just realized tears flowing down my cheeks, as I listen to the song and even when the song was over. It is a heart-wrenching song. The message profoundly moving, as I could relate so well with the song. Many of us learned how to be busy from our parents, unaware that we do teach the same to our kids.

And I was in the moment, when my phone sounded a “ting”, indicating a message from one of my closest friends, “ Hey it’s been awhile, when are we getting together? Hope you’re doing fine. Great. Gotta run”, was a quick message and hanged up. It’s easier to stay frenetic and complain about not having time than it is to actually do something about it .

Where are we all racing off to? Is it possible that the next thing is really always so much better than the thing that is happening right now? Or are we just straining to fit in “more” of this thing we call life? Is our life ever going to be so perfect that we feel satisfied and finally appreciate and enjoy it? Or are we doomed to the constant, pointless scurrying and scampering?

Okay, here I am again! Getting so deep in my thoughts…Looking out the window, I just decided it is a nice day for a walk.

Great post! I agree Maria, sometimes we are taught the hurrying method, as we are growing up. I know for myself; it seemed like we were always in a hurry. So, I carried it on as an adult.

Over the past two years, I've been learning to reverse it because, I've decided to enjoy life, friends, or family members while we have it, and be content with what I have. As they say life is too short, enjoy it while we have it because tomorrow is never promised.

Either way, I really hope you enjoyed your walk. Have a wonderful rest of your day...

Indeed Kisha! That walk was my best walk so far, as I did it in the midst of my over stacked piles of To Do list and busy schedule .

I got back after my walk with a refreshed feeling, ready to tackle what was waiting for my attention.

It felt good to walk away from it, to get recharged , renewed, enjoyed the mesmerizing sound of the birds, and the cool breeze that hugged my face.
My best walk yet!

Cheers,
Maria 🌹

It's an innate human need that is never truly satisfied. I am the first to admit I attempt to fill every last second with what I deem productive tasks, and never seem to stop (unless I'm sleeping. This is something I am getting better at with conscious effort. It's a constant battle with our cognitive dissonance (our inner struggle when our actions don't align with our thoughts), but when we truly know God, know ourselves and know others, then knowing how to best spend our time becomes attainable 🙏🙏🚴‍♂️🌹

Absolutely Dale!
However with the constant grind, and a constant demand for more time, which doesn’t stretch, the alway hurried life always persists no matter how aware we are of its harshness.
We have to consciously pause, stop the constant grind, enjoy the present, as tomorrow is ever promised. And God too wants His time, that which I must admit that He gets shortchanged as well, because of this “hurried life”!

Thanks for your time Dal!

Cheers,
Maria 🌹

Beautiful message here Maria,

I do love that song and yes it always moves me too!

I would love to turn back time, redo some things for sure to make sure my loved ones are kept priority.

All I can do is make the best of every moment moving forward.

Much respect.
Kind regards
Erica

Funny how some words remind us of song ….
You just reminded me of Bon Jovi’s song 🎶 “Turn Back Time”🎶

Let’s do that sometime, make the best of every moment, as we are on borrowed time!

Have a great day Erica! Appreciate you dropping by! Thanks for your input!

Cheers,
Maria 🌹

Absolutely Maria, we only have today, the present moment!

You have an awesome day and glad you got out for that walk.

Erica

Enjoyed that walk fully!

😂 I almost did not !

The sound of the birds is mesmerizing! The breeze that hugs your face is so refreshing!
So therapeutic experience!

Enjoy the present 💝

Cheers,
Maria 🌹

I love long walks too Maria, at the moment I have 2 birds visiting my patio for water to drink. They sing along to my music lol.

Enjoy the present my friend ❤️

Awesome Erica 🤗

Absurdly true. Music does help touch the part of our emotions. Yes. Hurry hurry isn't good; balance to find time to relax and settle a bit. I like the idea of going for a walk. Only my walk is in my broken power electric chair that has been for a while. I'm still waiting for parts on that. I am trying to focus on small things right now because we have a food shortage, and the kitchen is having issues with the supplier not providing food, so it's frustrating. My writing is my outlet at this time.

What the heck Brenda? How come you’re having food shortage? What’s wrong where you are?

Can I send you something?
Text me please

I sent you a message.

Many hurry around these days Maria without actually enjoying life!

We all need to find the best balance that we can!

There's nothing wrong with having a good cry when it happens, it's a natural reaction when we experience something that moves us!

I hope you enjoyed your walk my friend and enjoy the rest of your day!

Cheers!

Firstly, the “2” coconut cocktails gave me a smile! 🤭 Really Nick???

Secondly, my walk was really good. The fresh cold air hugging your face as you walk feels refreshing! And the sound of the birds in the trees, signifying Spring is here gives joy to my heart!

Lastly, sometimes we need that pause, and appreciate where you are in life, and just be grateful of the moment! ✨

Cheers,
Maria 🌹

Look closely Maria...

I see no coconut cocktails there...

These are famous South American teas called Maté!!

(Didn't I tell you I wasn't drinking yesterday)!!!😉

Happy to hear that your walk went well my friend, there is nothing better to clear our heads in my opinion!

And I couldn't agree more with you there!!

Cheers!!!

🥂🤣🥂🤣🍾
