A New Labor of Love
My daughter has always said that I was a better writer than a videographer. She is not a fan of my YouTube Shorts/Instagram Reels, YET. My "One Good Decision" reel is coming up with1500 views on IG and another 600 views on YouTube. Best of the bunch so far. Do you remember my recent Multi-Platform piece? I am living the life of an octopus with a reach into everything from blogging, pins, posts, reels, and Web 2.0. Each gets a piece of me every day.
This weekend, I stuck my finger into another pie - Kindle KDP! This weekend's foray into book writhing was totally unintentional. I simply wanted a new lead magnet to nab more emails on my website.
So I started as always with a blank Google Document and set out to create a new lead magnet for my website. Hey Claude Wake Up!
Please create a Heartstring Pulling Title for this book that we want to create. Follow the Title to create a 7 chapter outline for our eBook, with each chapter containing two sub chapters. Use the hook, the story, and the offer of following Setting Points toward success so compelling that people will want to read the book to find out what happens to John and his struggles after he follows __________.
And I thought Chatty loved to talk! Claude gave me an outline and we proceeded with the dialog which ended up being 66 pages long. The intent was 25~30 pages on how my audience generally arrives at the niche blogging crossroads and how I demonstrate that anything can be a profitable niche if you do the right research.
Does anyone have a blog on "Pole Dancing"? No? I saw classes offered in the local area. These classes were not for the ladies dancing on "The Block" at 2 am! They are designed classes for strength and flexibility.
The intent is that regardless of your interests, I can point you to a profitable niche with the right research and due diligence.
The easy part was getting it written. The hard part was getting it properly formatted. Google Docs does a poor job of inputting page breaks and creating page views for visual editing. The eBook went from there to a Word.docx version for page breaks, Headers, and general formatting.
The painstakingly slow editing process was a real learning experience. Only to do it again! Hard-coded page breaks are hard-coded. I had to redo the formatting when I switched the page size from 8.5x11 to 6x9. Images and blank pages wreaked havoc on the new size.
NOTE TO SELF: START WITH 6X9 MARGINS IN WORD!
But if you are interested, this is the submitted cover of book #2. To be released in the next 48 hours...
With all of the lessons learned from this weekend, the real book that I have been writing which is sitting at 150 pages should be a piece of cake! Practice makes perfect.
The Just Over Broke (JOB) alarm goes off in 4 hours.

Great ironies of the world! Just use a photo of women pole-dancing- will eliminate the gray apocalypse with a just over broke guy! 🤔 Hmm ponder the thought! LOL 😆
You just keep on doing what you do Don. Make small adjustments if needed but always believe in yourself. Every time things go wrong for me, I look on it as a training day - and you're allowed to make mistakes when you are in training.

Thanks Dave. It has been one great big learning expedition.
Writer, editor, publisher, media mogul. One day my autograph will be priceless.
