my niche is living healthy...and I need to find a domain with a .com or .net right?
Hi moldol83, there are websites that offer you domain name suggestions based off of a few keywords that you type into their search. Here is one site: http://www.domaintools.com/buy/domain-suggestions/ that offers this service. What I would do is put in the words living healthy in the search box and hit lookup and see what domains are available that you may likes. Also you could put in niche keywords.
Hi Molly, I wrote a blog about brandable domains if you want to check it out, might help a little.
https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/bucktaylor/blog/successful-site-setup-series-choosing-brandable-domain
So I chose my domain name and purchased it at namecheap, did the dns transfer...do i need to do anything else in order for all my stuff to update?
Click on the "Build My Website" button on the left then click on "Create New Website".
On the next page in step one, click "On a Domain I Own" then enter your domain name you just registered. If you've transferred the nameservers in your domain account then it will tell you if they are ready or not.
If you've already done all that then everything should be good. Try going to your site and see what happens.
Hi Molly,
If it were me, I would try and go for a .com if you can. Also, since I learned about brandable domain names here, I would try and go for a catchy brandable domain name. Hope this helps.
Brian
I like that. It also gives you the opportunity to brand yourself personally. You can make videos, about healthy living to build your credibility. This could lead you down a whole bunch of business avenues. Such as, coaching, and building your own product.
Nameservers are what your domain is hosted on. As far as I know. Using Namecheap, here is how to set them up.
Step 1: Go to your dashboard, and click the "view" link next to the "Number of domains in your account" section.
Step 2: Click on your domain name, and over on the left hand side menu, under "general," you should see something that says "Domain Name Server Setup." Click on that.
Step 3: Click the bubble that says "Specify Custom DNS Servers ( Your own DNS Servers )"
Step 4: Enter WA hosting info into the 1 and 2 spots of the domain name server information. Here is where you can get WA's hosting info:

Step 5: Click save changes. Then you are DONSKI!!!!
one more thing my dear, Do i need to go through everything and change my domain or will it do it automatic?
You should try first for a .com then a .org then a .net. I wouldn't worry about keyword rich domains or EMDs (Exact Match Domains). It's content that ranks, not domain names. I'd rather have a brand such as http://www.boohoo.com than http://www.buycheapdesignerwomensclothesonline.com Your domain name doesn't even have to be relevant, if it did http://www.amazon.com would sell river trips and http://www.apple.com would sell fruit! It can even be personal, http://www.craigslist.org I'd recommend having a read of this https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/website-development-programming/how-to-choose-a-proper-domain-name :) Rich.
