north america in change

I don't think there will be a North American Fair Trade Agreement (NAFTA) after this change! Perhaps it will be modified to a North American Maritime Agreement.

An effect of rising sea levels and surface area subsidence will certainly have a profound change on the North American continent. Such an effect would create a different world outcome if transposed to an earlier era in history.

On the presumption Europe follows its current track, the newly risen Atlantis could be colonized by any European power. The most likely outcome would be Spain colonizing the southern part of the newly risen Atlantis and Great Britain colonizing the northern portion.

I would draw the combined straight of Hudson and Mississippi with Britain in charge of the new Appalachian continent except for Spanish Florida in the south. French settlement would establish a hegemony over the new Hudson continent in the north. Britain would have no effect west of the Mississippi Strait.

Likewise, the French would tend to hold on to the land west of the Strait of Mississippi and develop much of the Rocky Mountains for France. I would argue for French territory extending from Le Grand Riviere to the New Gulf of Colorado. Spain would control the lands in the south and perhaps the California Islands.

The Northwest would be another story north of the gulf of Colorado. The French would likely meet up with colonial Russia in Western Canada. There would be no Sewards' Folly and no Alaska. You will see in a future Asian setting there is no Bering Strait. This will lead to Russia having a hold on the North American mainland.

Sorry guys, Vancouver Island slides into the Pacific as much of the coast of Western Canada. As for Las Vegas, underwater development by the French and Spanish might come up with a gambling mecca like replica of Otoh Gunga. The Star Wars replica of Jar Jar Binks underwater city.

Hypothetical climate change in any era could have epic effects on North America.

Those changes we often notice round the world are not only a REMINDER to all of us that there is truly an unseen designer of this whole universe (God) BUT that the end of this world is just at our door step and this is not just another piece of religious gimmick but a proven fact.

Cheers

Mike, interesting. I can remember back in the late 80s early 90s when I first saw that map. Knowing the things I already knew at that time about earth changes, I am surprised here, almost 30 years later that the Mississippi has not widened any.
It will be strange someday for someone living on a high point in Little Rock to look to the east and see the Mississippi in the distance.
First, it would have to contend with Crowley's Ridge at Forrest City, AR which stretches North to South for 150 miles. 90 miles from Little Rock.
At one time, however, the Mississippi Delta did stretch all the way to where Little Rock is.

I was flying out of St Louis in 1993 and there was flooding everywhere.

Great post!
The world is in constantly changing like our
own life whether we like it or not.

Have a wonderful day!

Good Morning Mike,

Your post set my imagination on fire.
One thing I would do for sure. Make a round on Atlantis with my metal detector. Have a good weekend.

Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske

Wow! Your Michael has his work cut out for him! I have yet to cover Africa, Europe(Some of Spain survives), Asia and a world overview!

Not to worry. An asteroid will wipe us out far sooner than this will happen. It's all speculation in any case and not very likely to transpire if the track record of climate change alarmists continues as it has for the last fifty years or so.

Even so, not sure why it's assumed a European country will govern the rising Atlantis when it's right off the US coastline?? I'm betting Bezos and Musk will divide it between themselves and open competing spaceports for the Mars shuttles. lol

Good one KC. Love it!

Whew...looks like Kansas will survive!

Good things happen to good places!

Thanks, Mike great post as usual.

We are living in interesting times. Perhaps it is just as well that I won't see all the changes.

I've been looking forward to this one. Interesting. Don't expect to be here for it, though!

Would love a Jar Jar Binks underwater city!

It would be a hit guys!
