Name Your Images With Your Site Name For SEO

Quite a while ago in another program that i was involved in they made a suggestioned this as a way to get more traffic.

Not to many people no about this technique so i thought that I would mention it here because it can be very valuable in getting to the top of the search engines.

Normally most people building website put images in that make there sight look nice, and that is great but it doesn't help attract traffic.

But there is a great way to maximize the value of your images and that is to name your images with words that reflect your sight name or keywords that you are using on your website.

So it would look like this. When you get your images they probably have a url something like this. image23737648748489.jpg which doesn't mean anything to the search engine. But you can turn that into something the search engines do know.

So what you do is download the images or drag your images into a folder for your site on your desktop and go through and rename your images.

So lets say you were writing about blue bellied lizards and your keyword is blue bellied lizards and your site is called blue bellied lizards.

You would rename the image to something like this. bluebelliedlizards.jpg the next image would be bluebelliedlizards2.jpg and then three...you get the idea.

This adds another layer for the search engine to find your website that can be very affective at beating out the competition, because not very many people know about this.

I guess you could test it if you have a site that has traffic that you can track the number of visitors history. Just change the image names now and see if it increases your traffic. You have nothing to loose.

Good Luck and I hope this helps you get tons of traffic.

Doing this in part is good but be a bit original. Don't use numbers. Try alternative text such as 'This lizard;s belly really is blue' or 'A flash of a blue belly for this little lizard'. A bit long but you see what I mean.

This then becomes the image name and the alt text.

What I do when I find an image is copy and 'save as' a jpg file, with this text, in my WA photo media folder on my computer. When you do it this way you don't have to add the .jpg extension.

Using the exact phrase may trigger keyword stuffing thoughts.

Nice, appreciate the tip.

Great little tip there ! Thanks a lot for sharing !

Sound worth trying. Thanks

The elementary teacher in me says. please spell "know" correctly, not "no." Content was fabulous though. OoooH, just above loose, drop an "o" to lose. Nothing to lose.
Hey, once again the content is great. English may be your 2nd language.
Confidentially, I'd be glad to help you do proof reading anytime,
as spell checking only detects if it a correct spelling
of any old word. Including improperly supplied words, or words that don't fit.
It will make you shine even brighter! Private Message the draft. It would be my pleasure, Suzay

Excellent tip, thanks for posting.

Jay also suggests to use your keyword in the Alt text for the images on that page. I’d been adding descriptive text about the individual image but went back and changed the alt text on every single image within my site.

It was a labor of love I can tell you and I’ve only got 30 odd posts.

So perhaps if people are going back to change the name they might want to change the alt text at the same time.
