I would like to ask anyone that has been here at WA for a while a few questions, especially those in the top 200 - 500. Although this is open to anyone. Below are a few questions I hope might help others as well as myself gain clearer insight into what it takes to be successful here at WA.

  • What are the biggest mistakes that you see beginners make? Is true for experienced members as well?
  • What are biggest ways that you see people misuse or waste time?
  • What are 3 things that you believe can ensure people success quicker?(Not necessarily short cuts, but just more efficient ways of doing things.)
  • What are the key principles for producing successful/profitable business?
  • What are a few techniques or strategies, that have produced the most results for you in your business? ( I will assume you create quality content. :)

Thanks in advance. I look forward to seeing what the community thinks. Hope this helps others as well as myself.

Biggest mistake is spending to much time on the WA website and not your own website.
The mistakes you make are needed because they are the real learning curve, you can not avoid making mistakes they are the most necessary and important part of the journey of success

Barry

This is a really good point that you brought up. i have always kind of been the type of person who likes to know as much as possible going into a situation. You know, really have the perfect plan.

I have slowly began to grow out of this. The thing I learned is there is no such thing as a perfect plan. You can only learn so much from theory, the rest comes through doing.

Thanks for the insight.

Avoid the dreaded - 'Information Overload' and - the 'Paralysis of Analysis'!

You MUST make a Start - ASAP! :)

Set goals to achieve for your site for that day is the most important thing.

I have been here just over 3 months, I still only have the one site. I see many making more and I never felt my site was quite where I wanted it to really be before moving on.

My mistake was trying to blend two niches, the idea sounded good.
Computer store (you create a website with a computer..that was the theme anyways) I still have WA on there and going to create a new site eventually, still working on the store part though.
I have the WA in one place though now, instead of scattered around, working much better for now.

Following the step by step courses and lessons is a must and an excellent learning platform. Asking questions in discussion rooms, don't stay in a stuck mode for too long no matter how silly you may think the problem is...two heads are better than one, but a whole community of members will help figure things out real quick.

If not its off to tech support...if its WordPress, SEO, Plugins or Widget problems then you probably need to send a support ticket, don't mess around...they will let you know real quick if its on your end or not.

Filtering emails before reading them, I delete all the "Likes" and other irrelevant emails first, get comments and reply's out of the way while picking up some questions to answer if I can, read blogs on and off.

Well, that is what I can think of right now, hope that helps you out.

Kim :))

Hi Kim.

Wow! You touched on a lot of great points. I too believe setting goals is very important. Lately I have been playing around with goal setting. I been trying some new techniques. Techniques such as focusing on the end goal as appose to the fine details.

In terms of the WA community. I have found being a part of a community pretty helpful. There are a lot of friendly who are very knowledgeable here.

Thanks for the advice.

No problem Mike. :))

Hey Mike

biggest mistake.... working on too many websites before you profit from the first one. Work on one until your getting a consistent profit.

All the spare time should be either learning, writing, or researching.

keep adding content to your site, follow Kyle's training, Watch Jay's live training and keep adding quality content and commit to your business.

All the best :)

Hi Evelyn

Thanks for the advice. My goal is to create one website starting off. I want to focus on fairly broad theme for the site. However I plan on finding keywords that touch on specific aspects of my sites niche. This way I don't run out of things to write about.

Thanks for the advice.

Hi Mike! -

The first thing is having the 'correct' Mindset!

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/davyrobot/blog/so-you-want-to-be-an-internet-marketer

Just because you have a Website does not mean you have a business -- You do not have a business - until you have paying customers / cleints!

It is all a numbers game -- You have to throw a lot of mud against the wall - until you get some that sticks!

I hope that helps you to put things into perspective - Mike! :)

Hi David!-

This is just good solid advice. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Mike! -

You are very welcome my friend!

So what have you decided - you want to do?

Hi Mike, how are you? My mistake is I am not diligent enough, strict with myself persistent at what I do. One of my ways, that I get distracted is probably Facebook, and researching something for too long. If I had the money I would pay someone to set up my webpage, pay someone to write content for me, on a regular basis, cause with writing you have to know about the subject enough to write about it, so in comes the research which is time consuming. I am probably the least qualified person to answer you, but I believe if you want to actually learn to do something you must get your hands dirty. Therefore, I am in no rush to seek success, success will come when I am ready enough and I have the knowledge to be able to manage that kind of success. Sure, I welcome the sort of success that would pay my bills and my living expenses but that's it, for now. You have probably a technic or a program of such I don't know. I haven't failed at what I do, I have learned another way as not to do it, Its best that way I could educate others to avoid that path as I have been there.

Hi Mudny,

You are plenty qualified to comment. You are a fellow entrepreneur and we are in the same boat. :)

I personally think that your feedback was valuable. As I know plenty of people who get caught of track by Facebook. It happened to me in college. Now a days I'm not a big Facebook user, since I don't really have time to.

I do however spend a lot of time on the research process. Its a bit of a strength and a weakness if I don't check myself on it.

Just out of curiosity do you use Facebook to do any marketing or networking. Seeing that it seem like your are good with Facebook and enjoy it. Why not use it to grow your business.

Whatever you path you take in growing your business, you will be successful. You have the right attitude. Feel free to continue the conversation.

Facebook is a little tricky and time consuming, it is best tackled for those who have established themselves and have a proven track record. My time is best kept on trying to establish my website and continuously feeding it with content. Once it has attained merit and I can honestly say that I am proud that I was able to create a steady income, only then I can show to my following at Facebook yes you can accomplish this. At the moment I have managed to create interest in the things I am involved in on Facebook and people are constantly asking for friendship. Which I guess is a good thing having a large following but then again, these people are constantly sending me offers which I tend to shy away politely without offending them. I understand Facebook is going to be an important part of Marketing and is a powerful tool and is growing to be that each day.
