Thanks for sharing. My granddaughter and I are seriously considering a YouTube channel. We have one with a few videos but we weren't really serious about it then. Thanks for your insights.

Karin

Glad it helped.

Hello Mikael,

Thank you for another helpful training video on YouTube, it's appreciated.

From what I understand, there is more money in affiliate links than YouTube AdSense. However, AdSense revenue can definitely add up over a period of time.

I know this is a difficult topic, but I believe from people like yourself and Roope, posting videos regularly, is a good boost to your channel.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

Roy

Thanks Roy.

Ad revenue can definitely become a good source of income eventually. But it take as while before your channel will qualify for it. You can earn with affiliate links as soon as you start getting some views. A combination of both is best.

Thank you, Mikael.

I understand where you're coming from, Mikael, it makes a lot of sense.

Have a fantastic day.

Roy

You too Roy.

Good information is always great to have. I just started my you tube channel a couple weeks ago and am still having trouble how to put a video on that. I should have that running well soon.

As long as you stay consistent, results will come.

Nice. Thanks for sharing! I have been thinking of doing youtube videos for years and I even tried but I did not like how I looked like in those videos.
I tried to record a video of one of my posts from my website and everything seemed off. So I am still not sure if I ever do videos, but something to think about

No ones likes how they look and sound when they first start:-) That is a part of the process so you should not let that stop you. And you can just start with videos where you do not show your face if you feel more comfortable with that.

Indeed. But I really looked bad and sound was not good either. I was thinking about that.
But what to put on screen then? Some photo slide show or something?

For the voice, you can always use a good mic to improve the sound quality. And as for your appearance, just remember:
"We are our own worst critics." 😊

So, no worries about that!

I suggest starting by recording yourself on your phone and talking about general topics. Watch the video, then record another one. Keep doing this, and you’ll gradually get used to seeing and hearing yourself.

I tried this myself, and it really helped. Over time, I stopped thinking of myself as "horrible looking," and I got used to my voice too.

The great thing about starting out is that those first videos, especially the ones you record on your phone, are just for you to see. No one else will watch them.

Start today, and keep practicing. In about 14 days, compare your 10th video with your first one. If you see progress, that's a great sign!

You might be ready to start that YouTube channel.

Hope this helps!

Mike

Thanks! Great idea.
I look fine in them and my voice seems fine too to me, but the weird lighting on glasses from window or computer screen. That I don't like. Also, my talking English is not that great even if some people say it is good.

If you do not want to be on the screen yourself, there are many options. It depends on your niche and topic. If you are showing something on the screen and doing tutorials, then you will just show your screen. Alternatively, it can be a slideshow, small video clips, etc.

I suggest you look at other videos in your niche on YouTube and get some inspiration.

And about the lighting, then, yes, you need to find a setup that looks decent if you want to show your face. But again remember that the most important at first is to just get started. The lighting or anything else does not have to be perfect.

Thanks! Great idea. I was always thinking I needed to show my face in those videos. I'm not sure why I always assumed that.
and thanks again, you gave me some ideas :)
