Spending a year on creating content only to delete everything!
You read this correctly.
January 1st 2025 I spent an hour deactivating post that I had spent the last year creating from my site.
For the past 15 plus years, I have spent every day and most nights living the dream in the hospitality industry, particularly behind the bar bartending.
My passion has always been to share my knowledge with any one who was willing to take it.
I have spent years looking at the Wealthy Affiliate platform and after a night of slinging drinks at an event I found myself looking it up again because from what I had read this would be a platform I hoped would help me turn this dream into reality.
As every one does with as many years of experience as I have, I dove head first into content creation.
My initial goal was to build a huge knowledge base with hundreds and thousands of blog posts filled with insights and tips for aspiring bartenders.
Using the tools provided by Wealthy Affiliate, I quickly was able to create over 500 articles in under a year. I had so much content I thought every one would be flooding in... or so I thought.
I attracted a small constant following and even interest from some affiliate brands but i knew something still felt wrong.
I was unable to get google ads approval as my content was now considered invaluable despite the sheer volume of content, I'd lost my way. Instead of sharing the deep knowledge I possessed over the years, I'd fallen into the trap of creating a generic short recipe blogs.
Sure the recipes did create a small search pool but this was not growing my site nor was this what wanted to share. My audience depleted, engagement plummeted, and the initial excitement faded.
This past New Year's Day a friend asked me what my resolution would be for the year now that it had been a year since i had closed the door on my blogging adventure since the blogger life was not working for me.
I looked her dead in the face and told her that I didn't actually know, I faced a hard truth. I had to make a change this year as I want to better myself..
I went home and I deactivated every single one of those 500 posts.
It was depressing and daunting decision, but necessary if I wanted to achieve something for me this year!
For the last two months, I've been rebuilding my site from the ground up, refocusing on what truly matters: sharing my expertise and passion for bartending.
The results of starting over? My followers are returning. My content is flowing authentically, filled with the knowledge I've longed to share. The passion is back!
Its now 21/02/2025 and after spending 1 full year trying to obtain approval for a google AdSense account guess what I got today?
I officially have been approved for google Adsense!
My Wealthy Affilaite journey has taught me a valuable lesson: Don't be afraid to start over!
Sometimes, you take a wrong turn and get lost.
You get caught up in the mechanics, the volume, the perceived easy way of doing things and lose sight of your original vision.
I can not wait to see what else is instore for my blog in 2025!
If you're feeling lost, take a deep breath, reassess, and don't be afraid to rebuild.
Your passion deserves to shine through.

Wow! Thank you for sharing your story. I firmly believe that a significant portion of members here are either currently facing this situation or have encountered a similar dilemma. It’s very inspiring to see that you took a step back to reflect and then decided to rebuild. Congrats!
I chose weight loss as my first niche because I have a genuine interest in helping those who struggle with this. But man, I had no idea about the extra content scrutiny of YMYL and the massive amount of competition I was going up against, including government sites.
It’s been 1 year since this site launched and there’s hardly any signs of life right now. Of course, I have nowhere near 500 articles on there, that’s quite impressive btw. So, I’m not sure if deleting it like you did to rebuild is the answer or to just put it on hold awhile.
Thanks for taking the time to read and comment. I actually wasnt going to share originally as I didnt want to admit to the crazy amount of successful members on her that I had failed.
I am glad i did what i did though as it has shown that I fell off the wagon and even though starting again was scary it was something that had to be done to put me back on track.
You can always place your articles into draft and work on them but i felt like if i did this i would eventually just activate articles again as they were there when i didnt have content. This took away the lazy aspect for me.
Good luck and let me know how you go with yours. I will be very interested to see your outcome :)
Dear Kirsty
Thanks for sharing your honest journey here and for being brave enough to follow your gut and start over. I totally sympathise with what you must be feeling as I am in a similar boat with both my sites that were doing well before life took over and now I'm starting over in many respects. However, your determination is paying off and you have already started to notice a shift. I believe this will only continue for you and you will make your goals a reality soon.
Thanks for sharing and all the best for your new site. Change is good, change is growth. Embrace the change and run with it.
Gail
I'm sure that's what many thought when they tried to climb a mountain. But only the ones who stuck it out, got to the top.
You got this! :)
Great to hear Kristy that you didnt' give up, as many others would have.
Goes to show you are not one to give up just because you step off the path.
Well done on getting AdSense approved, and now you reclaim that wonderful insight you had and now you know this is the time to move forward.
As Dr Wayne Dyer once said,
"When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at will change."
This is exactly what you did; it may have taken a year, but you pushed through and wanted this to work properly.
So well done and also give youself a pat on the back for sticking through and making some hard choices needed to get yourself back on the right road towards success.
Keep taking long, deep breaths when the need arrives then get stuck into it again and believe in yourself.
Wishing you well
Andre :)

Hi Miizsk!
Your post hit deep. Deleting a year’s worth of content? That’s not just a reset! That’s a full-blown phoenix rising moment. 🔥✨
And honestly, I get it. Sometimes, content doesn’t just need an edit, it needs a complete rebirth. But here’s the real kicker: Was it really wasted? Or was it the necessary groundwork for what comes next?
In a world where we’re constantly told to ‘produce, produce, produce,’ your story is a refreshing reminder that quality > quantity, and clarity > clutter. AI can generate content in seconds, but human intention, emotion, and experience? That’s irreplaceable.
Whatever comes next from you, I know it’s going to be powerful. Because if you were bold enough to let go, you’re more than ready to build something even better. 🚀🔥
Loved this read. Thanks for sharing such a raw, real perspective!
