Look for Answers

Finally, this is a post I promised you in previous one. I wanted to write it some time ago, but the day I wanted to do that, giludi beat me to it with this post.

I guess it's time now to share my 2 cents on this.

It's great to be in such a helpful community, where you can get an answer to every question, but don't always rely on that. Before you ask a question, try to find an answer on your own. I see the same question being answered many times within the same thread. Just look for the answer. I'm quite sure your question has already been answered.

If you don't find an answer, go step further - ask Google. Put some effort in it, do a research. You will learn so much more by doing that. Not only that, finding solution on your own gives you much bigger satisfaction. Your effort has paid off. You've learned something new.

There's nothing wrong with asking questions, but learning means looking for answers. Take this advice and you'll become a big helper in this community before you know it.

I think this picture fits here perfectly. Please don't take it offensive. No question is dumb.

It's much faster to ask others that are wanting to answer anyway to improve their rank. Once you are here a few months you will catch on! Lol

thanks Michael. I'm guilty of thinking sometimes that my question is dumb. this image is more of a 'satire' to me, like a joke, i get it.

It is a joke, but to the point. Thank you for commenting.

I completly agree with your post, but sometimes members are not sure to find the right answer and it's a question of confidence. It is a real honour for us this members have more confidence in us than in the entire google community. So as I told in my blog helping is also learning.

Thank you for your comment. I was going to let you know about my post, but again, you beat me to it. :)

I guess you want me to use google before asking dumb questions!!!!.

No, of course not. You're an exception. You don't have to use Google. You may ask any question you want. :) Don't take me so seriously.Thank you for your comment.

I totally agree with you. Whenever I go to Live Chat I find members asking questions which they would not need to ask if they just followed the lessons.

This is what I was told many years ago: When you have a problem, you ask yourself three questions: 1) What can I do? (i.e. can I help myself? Perhaps go to the next lesson...)
2) What can I read? (e.g. do I remember seeing a post about this? Can I find the answer by putting my query into the search bar here or into Google) 3) Whom can I ask? (Note that this is the LAST resort, not the first.) If we take steps 1) and 2) we will often find that we do not need to go to step 3 at all.

True, but often we make a shortcut and simply jump to step 3. Thank you for your comment, I appreciate it.

Research is a skill we all must learn Michaal, good points here. Thank you!

Doing a little research is never wrong. Thank you Damien for reading and commenting.
