I found out that in some themes blog posts shows the attached image on the blog roll and some themes need featured image instead.

What is the purpose of the featured image

You may find this article helpful: http://bobwp.com/exactly-what-is-that-featured-image-in-wordpress/

Thank you, the article explains the purposes in a good way. I may stick on a theme that is not requiring any featured image.

Even if the featured image is available in the theme you don't have to use it so if you see a theme you like, I personally wouldn't let the option of it put me off choosing it :)

With one of my themes, the featured image is uploaded to the top left of the post, so that way, it's the first thing your readers see. On the other hand, your regular attached image can go wherever you choose. The theme is just designed to show the featured image at the beginning of the post. You do not have to upload a featured image if you don't want to. At least I've got some pages I did not download featured images for.
If you do choose to, you may want to stick with medium-sized images. Large images tend to be compressed and don't come out great. I don't have information about what resolution to use.
I hope this helps you. It's trial and error until you find what works best for you.

Thank you, it helped. I need to do trial and error test to find the best solution in my theme.

I have removed all the widgets from my pages with the Temple "Full-width, no sidebar" in a Page Attributes. However some of my menus that I'm using are Categories and Widgets ke

Think you go to menus, move the widget stuff to the inactive box. You can always move them back later page by page, post by post. You can remove your categories the same way, add new later as you develop your website.^_~

This is something I found and is exactly the case on my pages.

http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/09/28/the-no-widgets-paradox/

There are default widgets settings in theme and if you don't choose any on the list, default set of widgets will be displayed. I used the empty RSS feed widget and the pages are now clean.

It's also said that in some new themes there is not a default sidebar at all and are then more logical.

The "Full Width" option is valid only for the post you select it, and on some themes not working on "pages".
Other options are plug-ins like IntelliWidget and Widget Logic which will give you more flexibility.
As far as categories is concerned. This widget is in the widget area and if you deactivate it, it will not show on any post or pages.
Hope that helps
John

Thank you all for your answers! Seems there is something wrong in the theme I use. When there are none widgets applied to my posts or categories theme adds four widgets by default. If I add one widget theme shows that one as it should,

Let's see can I work that out or must I change the theme to some else.

Re- watch the certification course as it has answers for all what you need.

I'm not 100% clear on what the issue is but do you need to edit from the 'menu structure' itself in menus? Also have you dragged the categories from the widgets sidebar?

Also ask in live chat.

Not really sure about the answer, but this widget may help

Widget Logic

Have you ever wanted widgets displayed on one page and not anther? Default WP widgets just splashed them up on every page.

You can stop the widget from being displayed by using conditional tags (i.e. !is_page( ‘about’)).

You could also use it to remove advertisements from your member area and remove recent posts from pages.

Thank you Trialynn! I installed a plugin called "Widget context" that gave good control when to show widgets and when not. Too bad that there is some problem in theme I use.

Hey there man! I don't exactly know what you mean? But give it some time and answers will begin to drop in from other members and experts in different areas!

Great to see thay you are active within and really aren't afraid of asking for help when it is needed
