Profanity in a URL .
Hello, dear community!
I hope you're all doing well.
I have a serious question for you all. No judgment, please.
I thought I would post this as a blog rather than a question because I thought it could generate some interesting and helpful discussion.
I had an idea for a website, which in my view is quite funny and relatable for a certain demographic. It is not meant to be taken too seriously, and the content itself is not rude or explicit, etc. It's just that the website would be built around a word that is profane. Mostly for the shock value but also because it is quite funny for those not offended.
My questions are -
- Would Google and other search engines index such a site?
- Could I place Google ads on such a site?
Are there any other things that I should be aware of with such a site? I don't know if this is a stroke of genius or a really bad idea. Lol.
I appreciate your thoughts.
HELP!
Cheers
Melissa and Peggy (the pug).

Hi Melissa!
It's hard to be creative without more details.
Have you searched in Google to see if there is anything like what you are trying to do to see what they did?
I notice people get creative on Facebook, and I think that's the demographic you may be targeting. Search around there to see what you can also get away with.
I think it's f'n genius! Actually, to be honest I think it's a risky strategy. Google and others may well be C U Next Tuesdays about it. Can you hint at the actual word or phrase that is profane?
Abie, I found your response to my comment a bit irritating and condescending, almost like you're trying to police the conversation. I don't see how your comment is helpful, considering that this whole topic was already shared publicly, and of course, people will be curious about the details. Knowing the specific word would help us provide more relevant feedback. I also don't appreciate the tone of being told what I should or shouldn’t share—it's not your place to dictate that to me or anyone else in the discussion. I'd prefer it if you didn't address your comments to me in the future, as I don't find them constructive or helpful.
I appreciate your astounding feedback; it is commendatory (Exemplary), really! That's my opinion. And I am entitled to it.

Hiya Dave!
I just purchased the URL, and I'm undecided about whether I'll actually go ahead with this. You guessed the word already based on what you thought Google and others may say about it. It's blended into another word, hopefully, to make it funny.
Glad to hear you secured the URL. I think using humor to blend that word into something else is a clever strategy.
In terms of Google indexing the site, it might depend on how prominently the word is featured and the context in which it's used. You might want to be prepared for some limitations in ad placements, as platforms like Google Ads tend to be strict with anything that even hints at profanity.
Maybe a good approach would be to focus on creating content that’s clearly satirical or humorous so it doesn’t come off as offensive. Either way, it sounds like a fun idea with some potential!

Great to hear from you again Melissa and I hope that you and young peggy are both well??
Without knowing what the exact profane word is... it's a little difficult to help you here!!
PM me if you like my friend and I will do my upmost best to advise you! :-))
Hiya Nick!
All is well with Peggy and me. Hope you're doing well too. I just purchased the URL with my WA credits. If I do actually go ahead with this as a site I may not host it here. I'd hate to bring WA into disrepute!!
Great to hear and all is well with me also!
I doubt any profane words for a website you own will have any ramifications for WA though!!!
Go for it I say my friend!!
