Treat Each Member As If They Were Your WA Referral

Hi everyone,

Everyone has their own opinions and thinking.

I find some people are often quick to judge the intentions of other members and I don't care how much "experience" you think that you have in the matter, but we all can still be wrong at times.

EVERY member here at Wealthy Affiliate has a sponsor. If not one of us, then they are under Carson and/or Kyle.

This is a Global community with countless different thoughts and expectations when first coming to WA.

Not everyone is fluent in English and they should not be expected to be fluent to be a member here.

We all have challenges and language can be a challenge for some.

I'm taking this very personally. Why?

Because a referral of a referral of mine has taken some undue heat and criticism for just trying their best to be a part of this community. They even had their Write Access revoked. That has since been restored.

They were planning early on to eventually upgrade. How do you think they might feel about that now after all the flak they have received?

What if that was your referral and you lose a potential Premium Plus/Premium member and commissions?

People need time to get a feel for the community and how things are done here. Please cut them some slack.

It can have a Domino effect.

How do you think their referring member feels about the situation? And what if they decide to leave WA because of losing their referral? And what would my response be to losing both?

This is a business platform and we should conduct ourselves accordingly.

That's all I have to say about this besides being disappointed by the whole affair.

Respectfully,

Mel Waller

Good morning Mel,

That's a good title for a post and quite thought-provoking in itself!

I hear where you're coming from and it's definitely good to think like that as we are all human and coming to the platform with different levels of knowledge. As you rightly said, some of us are from different cultures and speak different languages, etc.

When I see free members posting the same comment on different blog posts, or an AI comment, I do have to think, are they genuine and trying to learn, or are they just spamming members. I appreciate that there are many new people here and it takes time to learn what we can do and what we can't do. For example, I have seen people post links on the platform and I believe they genuinely didn't know that they weren't meant to do that. So it's good to give leeway!

Thank you for the thoughtful post, Mel.

Have a great day.

I agree that we should treat all members well, but I also think it would be a good idea for the referrer to gently point out to the new member what they should and shouldn't be doing.

In your case, since you are doing your best to accumulate points, she probably thinks that is the way to earn money here. And although she says she's learned a lot, she still hasn't set up a website. She comes across as just wanting to earn points and $$. And seeing all those AI pasted comments that don't add anything to a conversation gets quite annoying.

I'm just about as active as I was before and there is plenty I don't respond to in order to get points. She is looking to have some money to help with upgrade and that's fine. Well pasted or not I see a lot worse from regular WA members, but I don't let that bother me. Where our focus goes... so goes our energy. Thanks for sharing Isabella.

We should always respect everyone, regardless of language or culture. It’s also 100% ok to let someone know they’re using the platform incorrectly if they’re posting the same comment multiple times across conversations. It gets perceived as spam, and if it stems from a language barrier, no problem, now they know and they probably won’t do that again. I would say the exact same thing to any referral of mine. 👍🏼💯

You're right Mel, WA has been a family for many years and the fact of the matter is, we were all beginners once and no matter how experienced people are, there is always something new that can be learned.

Kindness if free.

I'm glad your referral is doing better now, and if that person is reading this - just know you're welcomed and valued here.
