Consistency or Lack Thereof - My Greatest Weakness

Hi everyone,

Imagine that you are traveling 3000 miles across the USA from the West coast to the East coast and you have a map before you to guide you on your journey.

Now imagine that you alter your path following other signs and attractive places to visit along the way.

The USA is large enough, it could take you years to reach your destination. Or it could take you just 4 days or so to get there.

While working on building my businesses, I generally have some road maps to go along with them.

Especially with ChatGPT creating 90 day guides for some of them.

I know when I work on a business, I could start to get so focused that I neglect the others. That's one reason when you are just starting out, they recommend you only focus on a single business and build a strong foundation. Also time can be a constraint.

Well I have 24/7/365 available to me to work on my businesses.

I'm sure AI Agents can go a long ways in being more consistent daily once I get them set up.

In the meantime, it is a never ending challenge to be consistent.

I currently have 1,644 ebook/book titles published. If I had been more consistent over the years, I could probably have 5000+ titles and that's no joke.

I currently have to Premium Plus referral members. If I had been more consistent, I could probably have dozens more or even be a Super Affiliate and have been to Vegas.

I have 1 main Youtube channel with 3.32 thousand subscribers that is no longer monetized. I could have kept it monetized and consistently added videos and be earning a nice income from that.

::: sigh :::

I think you can get an idea of what my lack of consistency is costing me.

My income could easily be tripled what it is now.

So at least I am aware of this challenge and I am trying to be more consistent and I don't mean to take the lazy approach, but I really believe AI can make a dramatic difference going forward.

Have you had challenges with being consistent in your business?

I have been fairly consistent but I am still new at this website building so my next step is to improve on my 2 new website posts, 2 YouTube posts. 2 Instagram posts and 2 hours of working on my new Facebook page every week. Right now that seems like a lot to me with trying to keep up with these e mails. MAC

Yes, I am consistently "working", but I'm inconsistent when it comes to doing what I really need to focus on because I have too many things to do. My main source of income right now is my eBay store. My goal has always been to list every single day, but that has dwindled down to 3 times a week and my sales suffer when I don't consistently list. I currently have 3,739 items listed. (mostly vintage postcards) If I start listing consistently tomorrow, I would have more than 4,000 items listed by the end of this month. Which is short term goal. My long term goal is to have 20,000 + postcards listed at any given time.

I have my website here which I've also slacked on because now, I'm spending way too much time reading the WA blogs that I am notified about in my emails and commenting on. But I'm not complaining because there has been an explosion of mind growth.

My Instagram posts are down, I haven't been consistent with my Substack newsletter and I love creating content for that (which is once a month).

I need to update my Benable ... and the list goes on. I get sidetracked a lot. LOL

Sorry for the long rant. Your post is just so relatable.

Thanks for sharing JarieLyn! If you had to in the future, you can turn off email notifications from WA. I have mine off for what others are doing. I am on the site enough to see what I might want to take a deeper look at.

Yes. totally relatable. :-)

1644 titles published... OMG this is awesome - Hats off!

To be honest yesterday I wrote a post and mentioned because of my lack of consistency after 8 years being a WA member, I'm starting all over again from scratch.

Indeed, lack of consistency is costing a lot (I write this with severe pain).

Thanks Paul!

You can do it this time around.

That's rough having to start from scratch. On the positive side, it could give you a whole new perspective and bring about some fresh ideas.

True... Taken more than a 2-year break and no other option, and I believe the best thing is to start all over again...

Mel, you just described what so many of us experience but rarely admit—the battle between ambition and consistency (and all those detours that look oh-so-tempting along the way). I really appreciate your honesty here. It’s easy to look at others’ “results” and forget that everyone’s road is filled with pit stops, missed turns, and the occasional scenic route!

What stands out to me is your awareness and willingness to course-correct rather than just dwell on the past. That’s a big deal! Also, wow, 1,644 ebooks and a YouTube channel with thousands of subs? That’s not inconsistency; that’s serious output, even if you feel you could do more.

You’re right, AI is opening up a whole new toolbox for creators and business owners. The trick (for me, anyway) is making those systems work for you, not just adding more to the to-do list.

I’m constantly working on my own version of “consistent progress,” even if it’s not perfect. Thanks for sharing your journey. It’s a good reminder for all of us to keep showing up, even if the route gets a little wild.

To your continued success (and all the future milestones ahead!),
Sonia

Yes, I've definitely faced challenges with consistency in my business.

At first, I thought it was just a time issue, but over time I realized it was more about focus and energy management. I'd start out excited and clear on what to do — but then I'd get pulled into other ideas, distractions, or just daily life responsibilities. Sometimes it's hard to know whether I'm making progress or just staying busy.

Your analogy about the 3000-mile journey really hit home. It's easy to get sidetracked by detours that seem fun or promising in the moment but ultimately delay the bigger goal.

I respect your honesty and also the fact that you've already achieved so much — 1,600+ book titles, a YouTube channel, referral members — that’s not small at all. It shows what you're capable of, and I agree: with more consistency, those numbers could multiply fast.

I’m also starting to look into AI tools like ChatGPT and agents to build systems that help me stay on track. It’s not about outsourcing everything — it’s about building a support structure that helps me show up daily without burning out.

Consistency is a work in progress for me, but I’m learning that progress beats perfection — one step at a time.
