Yesterday, I was inspired to start a series of WA blog posts about 'Remembering our Why'.

Why are we doing what we are doing? Why are we spending so much time on our website/blog? What are we looking for, behind the success and the money?

I jotted a few ideas down on paper but was hesitating to actually start this series... until I read Ropesa's blog post "I really need a pick me up today" (https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/ropesa/blog/i-really-need-a-...).

I commented on it, and Ropesa's and Michael-Rey's answers to my comment encouraged me to actually start this series...

So here we go... :-)

*

At the Core of What We Do, What is it that Gives us the Strength and Inspiration to Move through Challenging Times?

What is it that stops us from giving up? What is it that moves us out of apathy, and into action?

*

More than Hopes and Dreams of what's to Come, I Personally Find that Remembering my Why Gives me the Clarity to Choose my Actions.

My "reward" is then already in my actions themselves, regardless of the result I get from them...

*

I am not 'Result-Oriented', I am 'Meaning-Oriented".

Let me give you a concrete example... one of my Why's is to live as much as possible in the emotion and sensations of Joy. Why? Because I personally believe that the feeling of Joy works as a guiding compass... what brings me true Joy nourishes my heart and soul. So if writing something brings me Joy but some people don't appreciate it, that's fine... because my writing already brought me Joy. If other people like it, that's "just" EXTRA Joy. :-) And I do LOVE it when they show appreciation for my work! :-) <3 Because I feel the connection!

*

Why is it Important to Know our Why?

Well, if we forget our Why, we may still be taking actions that we believe are going to take us in the direction of our dreams, but we may be deeply mistaken... there is a quote I love that reminds me of this whenever I wonder what I should do:

"Verily I say, the world is like the vapor in a desert, which the thirsty dreameth to be water and striveth after it with all his might, until when he cometh unto it, he findeth it to be mere illusion."

*

So... What is our Why?

Here are some of MY Why's...

  • Joy
  • Connection
  • Applying the teachings of my faith
  • Honoring the Creation (my body and my environment)
  • Love
  • Family
  • Friendship
  • Sharing
  • Being a Role Model/an Inspiration
  • Being Authentic/Walking the Talk
  • Education
  • Children's Rights
  • Animal Rights
  • Gender Rights Equality
  • Social Justice

Whatever I do, I strive for my actions to be as much as possible aligned with my Why's.

*

What about You? What are YOUR Why's?

Are you clear about them? How do you feel when your actions and results are aligned with them? What could you do to be as aligned as possible as often as possible with your Why's?

*

Announcing the 'Remembering our Why' Series

I have jotted down a few thoughts on some of my Why's and I am planning to share these with you in the coming days... the idea is to remind us to remember our Why, and make us stronger when we need it the most... because we all know that there are times when we joyfully ride the waves of affiliate marketing and website building, and other times when we doubt, when we wonder 'What's the point?'... and in those moments, we need each other's support, and we need to reconnect with our core values.

I think the first post in this series shall be:

"Printing your Own Money and Digging for Gold: a Family Business"

It's pretty much written but I still need to type it up and edit it... Keep an eye out for it in the coming days. :-)

Have a beautiful day and week everyone.

To our Success,

Nathalie

I keep coming back to this post, I have been thinking very hard because of it, I have also discovered that I have more whys than I thought.

I thought my only whys were, helping people stop using toxic skincare and beauty products, raising awareness about pollution and financial freedom, but I have discovered that I have other whys, like making new friends, being a better person, helping young people deal with the hardships of youth.

Being a woman of my word, working hard toward my goal of being the hottest woman at 80 lol I know its crazy but I have changed my way of eating, and I have changed my skincare and beauty routine, so I can achieve that goal if I am blessed to live that long.
That's how my website was born actually.

I am still discovering more whys, so thank you so much Nathalie.

Wow!! Thank you so much for letting me know all this, Rose! I am touched!

It feels me with Joy to know that you are getting more and more in touch with your Why's.

It sounds like we have a lot of common interests... helping young people, taking care of our bodies/being healthy...

Based on your goal, you most likely know of Annette Larkins, right? She is quite amazing!!

Nathalie

I didn't know who Annette Larkins was but now I do.

She is quite an authority in the "old and sexy" niche. ;-) She's almost 80 and WOW!! Does she look good!! ;-)

Yes I just finished watching some videos on YouTube, and she really looks amazing!

Doesn't she? :-)

Absolutely!, I don't think I can beat that : ) lol but I will try my hardest lol

You can beat it if you really want to... the questions are "Is it really worth it?" and "What's the point?" What does it mean to you?

AHA! those are the questions I was asking myself, you read my mind, I mean more power to vegan but I love chicken sorry.

:-) Yes! Chicken does taste great! :-) I am as vegan as possible, sometimes "just" vegetarian, for ethical reasons, not for taste reasons. ;-) I still love the smell of cooked meat... this is everybody's personal choice and I can only respect it, the same way I expect others to respect mine. :-)

Me too I respect other people's choices just as I would expect them to respect mine.

🙂

It's all in the why, and there are so many as there are so many people who make them, you list more than I could think of, a great post, thanks for sharing.

My pleasure, Paul! :-) Thank you for your positive comment!

Nathalie

Thank you for such a motivating Post Nathalie. Too often, in my career, I was guilty of concentrating too heavily on the tasks ahead of me and forget the "Why".

This is so important in our lives for reaching love, joy and happiness.

Thanks again Nathalie and have a great productive day.

Jules

My pleasure, Jules! :-) I have been guilty of the same... and still am sometimes... improvement is always possible. :-)

Have a beautiful day,

Nathalie

Thank you Nathalie, good to remember lest we sometimes forget.

Yes, indeed, Twack! :-)

Nathalie

Nathalie. Thanks for sharing some of your personal "Why's". For myself you (along with several others) are an encouraging force motivating me to do better. I almost feel like your are the speaker at an inspirational conference and I am the only one in attendance so you have directed everything at me even though you know very little about me.

Barry

Wow! What you are saying really touches me, Barry! Thank you so much for letting me know how my post made you feel! That truly means a lot to me! :-)

Nathalie

Thanks for sharing, Nathalie.

My pleasure, Roger! :-)

Nathalie

Thanks for sharing a great view about the why.
Never forget why and all will be fine
Have a great day
Tommy

My pleasure, Tommy! :-) You are absolutely right! Never forget why and all will be fine. :-)

Have a great day too!

Nathalie

Nathalie,

Thanks for sharing that personal and insightful post.

A while back I had written a brief post about the hierarchy of values, a simple thesis on a complex subject developed a while back.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hierarchy_of_values

To simplify the concept without diluting it, let us observe a couple walking down on a city street hand in hand.

The man's attention may be drawn to certain things or persons and the woman's attention will potentially be drawn to other things or persons. In sum their divergent focus is part of a set of values or experiences over many years.

The otherwise astounding this is that they both share the same surroundings, breathe the same air, see the same sunshine or feel the same rain while they walk hand in hand.

The focus could potentially become almost the same exact one if we imagined that couple walking hand in hand on an isolated or empty beach where the basic elements of God's creation, air, sand and water [aside from a few often pesky seagulls] are the only presence or reality surrounding them.

Eliminate the distractions, shiny objects and the unity is at hand, so long their hearts are in the same place.

As to the big WHY, I think that it was CS Lewis who once compared us to a seagoing vessel which has to define answers to the following 3 questions, which I paraphrase below hoping not to carve out its value:

1. Is the vessel seaworthy?
2. WHY is the vessel going out to sea? For what purpose?
3. If the answer to 1. is no, could it be a hazard to itself or to other vessels?

Past experiences, geo politics and sets of values will make up the hierarchy of values for each individual, however, in the end the CS Lewis analogy points us towards the LIVE AND LET LIVE direction, regardless of where we are and what our beliefs may be.

Blessings!

Thank you so much for sharing all this with us here, Gabriel.

I had never read about these 3 questions. They are interesting... to me, the very fact that we are alive means that our vessel is seaworthy... life being the sea... :-) Then the question would rather be, in my personal opinion: Is the vessel equipped for a particular journey or not? That's where inner guidance and intuition comes in handy. :-) Often, we know deep inside... if we only listen to our inner voice... :-)

To me, the key is in believing in a benevolent Universe... and learning how to travel through life to make the most of it... using Joy and our values as compass. And yes, I totally agree, we all have different sets of values... while at the same time, I do believe that we all want to feel loved and respected, whatever that means for each of us. :-)

Blessings,

Nathalie

Thanks for your comments Nathalie.

In a simplistic way, the WHY as you've summed up as being alive is answered by an excerpt from the lyrics from the song Ancestors by Seawaves from Manchester UK which says in relevant part:

"We'll start again, with all your heart
It's just a game, with all your heart

Start, with all your heart
Again, a brand new start"

I forsee within this very year that we will experience a massive positive reset worldwide and that it will usher in a brand new world on so many levels.

Some call this a Super Jubilee year all of which would confirm that.

Time will tell, however, regardless of when that will happen we need to know the answer as to WHY.

Down the road, when we will arrive on the Heaven's Shore, we need to be able to understand the significance of that sole set of footprints in the sand. And the answer to the WHY will be revealed.

In the meanwhile, we can enjoy hearing the sounds of Heaven's Shore by Tranzlift Magdalayna chilled remix in YouTube.

Blessings!

Very well said, Gabriel! :-)

Blessings!

Nathalie

Wow! First let me thank you for crediting me, I am very honored to be mentioned in this wonderful post.
Wish I had something like this to read yesterday. Yes I need to evaluate my whys, to keep going.
I am so looking forward to your next post, I almost feel guilty that I am getting to read this wealth of information and encouragement for free.
Anyway, thank you so much.

Rose, your post inspired and encouraged me to actually do what I wanted to do! This is very powerful!

By being authentic and open about your struggle you allowed so many of us to reconnect with our own and what we can do about it. I don't know if you are aware of this but this is a gift you have and the least I could do was to acknowledge you for that. :-)

Being willing to show our vulnerability makes us very powerful, in the good sense of the word of course... because a lot of people are afraid of their own vulnerability and try to conceal it. We are open about it and that takes a lot of courage.

Keep it up!! You are an inspiration to many!

WOW! I am humbled, thank you so much

I mean and you deserve every little bit of this, Rose... :-)

Nathalie

I guess I was trending here at WA yesterday even my ranking has gone up :)

Enjoy!! :-)

Nathalie

What a great post! I think everyone at one point ponders on the “why” question and has doubts. Looking forward to reading your series.

Thank you, Liz! That encourages me to do it indeed! :-)
