Reaching Your Money Goals One Step At a Time!
This post is to encourage myself and others not to lose sight of our money goals.
I posted to the discussion called, "What Are Your Money Goals?" yesterday and as I was looking back today to reflect on them before I start my day, I thought to myself, these goals should be front and center for me to access whenever I need a bit of encouragement.
So for me I am copying my goals below in this post so that I won't forget them. Another great location that you could post your goals to reflect on them daily is in your profile area.
My Realistic Goals are:
A Happy Goal of earning $3,000.00 per month net
A Ecstatic Goal of earning $10,000.00 per month net
I will spend as much time as it takes to reach my goals with a focus on making every hour I can work towards my goals count.
This means looking for affiliate programs that:
1. Offer me a recurring income
2. Have higher commission percentages compared to other programs
3. Have good customer feedback
4. Have great promotional tools with no onsite leaks that steal my lead
I have also wrote out my money goals in my notes so that I can see them when I am offline.
It goes without saying that I will not reach these money goals without taking action everyday.
The most important thing to remember when taking action is that if you are not focusing on the completion of daily action steps that will contribute to your online success, you are focused in the wrong direction!
If you are being enticed to buy products that do not contribute to the method you have chosen to make money online, you are focused in the wrong direction!
Manage Your Time
Time can be your friend, but it can also be your enemy when it comes to affiliate marketing.
You need to take fast consistent action and jump on building an online business. Changes happen so fast online that you could spend years just learning all there is to know about internet marketing and studying the various different methods to make money online.
Forget about learning everything if you want to succeed online, just pick an online method of making money that resonates with you and stay the course, ignoring everything else.
I presume that most of the members here at Wealthy Affiliate have chosen to be successful with affiliate marketing. Therefore ignore everything else until you have mastered a plan to make an income with affiliate marketing.
If you expand from affiliate marketing into something new before you are making a consistent income you will greatly decrease your chances of mastering affiliate marketing, and your focus will be divided.
The Key is Focus!
To Focus we must learn to give up the things that do not contribute to our success.
A good example is email subscriptions. How many lists are you signed up to that take you away from focusing on building your online business? Hit the "unsubscribe" if the sender is not contributing to your online success.
Another contributing factor to not reaching our money goals is information overload.
You'll learn lots of great stuff moving forward but unless you develop a plan that works for you to easily digest this information, it can be very confusing.
Learn and Write In "Chunks"
The best information that I can give you that has worked for me is to learn and write in what is called "chunks," (not my invention) this is something I had read about before that made sense to me.
Learning in "chunks" for me is simply a matter of breaking things down into more understandable smaller portions of information and grouping important things together.
Over time I have learned to ignore the irrelevant information and focus only on the necessary steps, after years of writing in scribblers.
I have a wealth of information in these scribblers of past, but scribblers filled with a lot of great information fail to provide me with any "go to" steps that I can easily access and follow on a daily basis.
My new strategy for learning is to read, write and work in "chunks," as well as always being aware of how I spend my time and how it will benefit my online business.
For me this means:
1. Working on one thing to completion before I move on
2. Speeding up videos, shortening the learning time (Kyle & Jay you still sound great)
3. Speed reading and highlighting only the important points to remember
4. From the videos and the text I then transfer the important information/steps to a business card size of space, using another business card size space if I need to write down more key points. (I use a magnetized business card and draw out my squares on the page)
I generally get 8 business card slots per page.
Visually I find it easier for me to learn and retain the information I am listening to or reading this way, as I can see at a glance what is important instead of going through pages and pages of irrelevant information.
For example, I have the whole Getting Started - Online Entrepreneur Certification Level 1 course on one page, from all the text and videos in that course, highlighting all the tips and important steps in only 8 business size areas.
Finding what I am looking for or reviewing an important task is so much easier to handle with it all on one page.
It also goes without saying that if you don't know what you are going to be working on the next day to promote your online business, likely nothing will get done due to the lack of having a focused plan.
Chances are without a plan that you will focus in an area that does not advance you, so get into the habit of setting a few goals the night before for the next day that are attainable.
Even if you accomplish only one of your listed attainable goals, that's great, over time you will get into the habit of taking on more advanced goals with confidence!
That's it for now. Hopefully these tips will help someone. Check back as I plan to add some more helpful tips to follow in reaching our money goals.
