Pausing Briefly to DE-FLUFF my AI Generated Articles
I re-joined WA in March this year after an 11 year "sabbatical" from online business and affiliate marketing. I'm excited to be back writing & blogging again, and I've been having a lot of fun exploring all the shiny new features that are now part of the WA platform. Especially the AI Article Generator which is truly a game changer!
Like most of you, I suspect, I've been steadily creating new articles for my niche site and making sure I use up all those Word Credits each month before they refresh again. Ya know, "Use It or Lose It." 😉 So while I now have around 10 blog posts live on my site, I'm also building up a backlog of draft articles that still need polishing (and images) before going live.
At first, I was totally amazed and giddy over the content the new AI Article Generator was pumping out for me. It really is amazing how it is able to find relevant information and facts and construct articles so quickly.
Don't get me wrong, I'm still amazed, and having a blast using the incredible AI tools WA has provided for us. But I'm realizing now that AI generated content is blatantly obvious, and not very exciting or engaging to read. It also doesn't sound anything like me, or the way I would typically write. In other words, there's simply too much FLUFF!
Of course, I'm referring to various words & phrases that get included in almost every AI generated article. Things like, 'You’re going to find out about', 'You’re going to learn about', 'I’m going to let you in on a little secret', 'I’m going to introduce you to'. Not to mention various other statements like, 'in today’s digital landscape', 'in the world of', 'in the realm of', 'plays a significant role in', etc, etc.
So now, before continuing to generate and publish more new articles, I'm going to take a few days and focus on going back through my current articles, removing all the fluff, and adding my own personalize voice to them.
Eric Cantu has an excellent class for Premium Plus members, and I'll be following his advice & guidelines. If you're P+, check out the class here if you haven't already:
One thing I experimented with this morning is adding prompts to the AI article designer to help remove a lot of the fluff up-front and reduce the amount of time I need to spend editing & modifying articles.
Through a bit of online research and playing around, this is the prompt I came up with that I will include in the "Add content details (optional)" section of the Article Designer:
"Generate a concise article. Avoid words, phrases, and sentences that do not add any substantial value to the message being presented (aka practically applicable or interesting information). Avoid all types of clichés and redundant phrases, including but not limited to 'cutting-edge', 'game-changing', 'essential', 'you’re going to find out about', 'you’re going to learn about', 'I’m going to let you in on a little secret', 'I’m going to introduce you to', as well as broad statements like 'in today’s digital landscape', 'in the world of', 'in the realm of', 'plays a significant role in', 'is an ongoing process that requires', 'in the context of', etc. Do not use multiple words and sentences to convey a point that could be communicated effectively with one."
I also found, through a bit more experimentation, that I much prefer the "Professional Copywriter" AI author versus the "Conversational Blogger" author. The copywriter author just sounds much more like I would write myself, and with the above prompt added, I think the AI-generated articles will require much less editing and tweaking before they are ready to go live.
I'm sure I'll be playing around with prompt over time to hone it even further, but for now, I wanted to share this with everyone. I hope it helps, and maybe it will generate some good discussion where others can share their own prompts for removing "AI fluff" and making articles sound more human.
Choose freedom, choose your own path, choose your own adventure!

Good morning Dave,
It sounds like you have had quite a long break from Wealthy Affiliate! It's good that you are back!
I must admit I find AI content horrendous, it's just so obvious! I know that Kyle and the team are not teaching us to use AI to write content. It should be more of a helper or assistance, rather than a writer.
I wrote a Google blog post about a week ago entitled, "Don't set yourself up to fail"! It was referring to using AI content, you can read the post here. Don't Set Yourself Up To Fail! I really think we need to be so careful with AI content, once again, that's not to say it can't be helpful.
I wish you every success and a great day.
Roy
I think with a bit of experience we've all found AI needing more than your basic prompting. As you suggested, we need to be clear on what to avoid and your paragraph seems like a good one to help AI understand what you expect.😎
Thanks for this advice about AI writing. I have found the language to be troublesome, as well. But, I'm going to find out that there are better ways to write in today's landscape.
Seriously though, in the pantheon of good ideas, your idea about adding a prompt for words and phrases is at the very top. Now, I'm beginning to write like AI. Is there any help for me?
Really though, I like this and I will be more diligent in my personalization of AI generated content.
I'm going to let you in on a little secret... In the realm of affiliate marketing, AI is a total game changer! 🤣🤣🤣
Welcome back!
I have noticed the same with AI results, but like you, and with the help of the WA community, I also have learned to ask chatgpt to customize content I give it.
Yesterday I asked chatgpt to write like a favorite author, and it did. Pretty cool!!
Thanks! Are you using the AI article designer here within WA, or you do you use ChatGPT directly? I mean, I'm assuming the article designer here is using GPT under the covers anyway, but it's definitely doing something more because I get VERY different results with each tool.
Hi Dave! Yes, I do use the WA AI generator when I have credits, but posting numerous posts a week doesn't last long. So lately, I have been using the WA platform to create an outline from my chosen long-tail keyword and then using Chatgpt to help create content from that outline.
Once that is done, I go through and refine the post. I still have to make it our own! Last week, I asked Chatgpt to write like me using material from my writing so it could adapt to my style. It did okay with it.
I am still learning, but it helps me write better and faster.
I'm just curious, how many articles are you posting a week or month? If you only use WA to create outlines, that like 200 outlines you could create with the 20,000 word credits! Once I clean up and remove the fluff from my current articles (in progress now), I'm hoping I can settle into a routine of publishing at least 3 new articles each week.
Hi Dave!
I get 7000 credits a month. I post 3 - 5 posts to my newest website a week. For some posts, I let WA take them from conception to finish, and for others, I just create the outline with Word credits in WA and Chatgpt for the others using the WA outline.
I use AIOSEO, and even with the Chatgpt content mixed with my edits, I get acceptable scores for the content in regards to SEO. All my content is indexed within 24 hours and getting impressions.
Oh, sorry. I wasn't thinking about different WA membership levels having fewer word credits. So, when you say your content is indexed within 24 hours, is that for your newest site? And if so, how old is that site? (I'm just curious)
My content seems to be taking a long time to get indexed, and I'm not sure if it's because it's just too new (only 2 months), or if it's because of all the obvious AI generated content. I'm almost done cleaning up and de-fluffing my current articles. All new articles going forward will be thoroughly de-fluffed and "humanized" with my own voice. 😊
Hi Dave!
I launched my newest website in February. All pages and posts are indexed. Once I post something new, I jump over to Google Search Console and request indexing.
I don't wait to be crawled; I request indexing. Try that on all your current pages/posts. Check and see if they are, and if not, request they are. I notice that WA is not always up to date in our Site Content Link.

Welcome back Dave and the new AI features here on the platform are fantastic tools to help us in our content creation!!
But... that is all they are! Tools and assistance!
They certainty save me heaps of time researching and writing, but... we should never publish them without fact checking and putting our own personal voice and experiences into the posts!
And of course... getting rid of the fluff!!
All the very best moving forward my friend! :-)
