For new Wealthy Affiliate (WA) members, it can be confusing to understand why there is a login for WA, and then a separate login to work on your website. Well, all websites hosted on the WA platform are using WordPress behind the scenes.

WordPress is a free, open-source content management system (CMS) that lets you create any type of website or blog. As of December 2023, WordPress was being used by 43.1% of the top 10 million websites in the world. So it's kind of a big deal and definitely the 1,000 pound Gorilla when it comes to building websites. 🦍😊

There is a lot of integration and automation between the WA platform and the back-end WordPress platform. This is evidenced by the ability to publish new articles directly from WA to your site, and to synchronize your WordPress back-office user account passwords with WA. These are just a couple of the obvious integrations, but there is a lot more integration & automation happening between WA & WordPress. We'll let Kyle & Carson worry about those details! 😉

The two most common methods for logging in to your website back office (ie. WordPress) are using the "Log into Back Office" button in your Hub, or the "Log in" button in Site Manager under the Websites menu up top.

Hubs

Site Manager

These are actually the quickest and easiest ways to login to your WordPress site. But what if you're not logged into your WA account? Or what if you just want a browser shortcut to get there?

Did you know there are a couple other options for logging into your WordPress back office, even when you aren't logged into your Wealthy Affiliate account?

WordPress Alternative Login Option #1:

1) Obtain the password for your WordPress user account by going to Site Manager here on the WA platform and click the "Log in" button to view your current user accounts and associated passwords. Simply copy & paste the values from the Login and Password columns into your password manager of choice. Most people will be using the default "admin" account for this, but it is possible to setup other users/authors in your WordPress back office. Any user account is fine as long as it has administrator-level access.

Usernames and passwords redacted to protect the innocent 😊

2) In your web browser, go to https://<YourWebsiteURL>/wp-admin and you will be prompted to login. Be sure to bookmark this URL as one of your browser favorites for easy access. That "wp-admin" part at the end of the URL stands for "WordPress Administration" and takes you into the WordPress admin dashboard.

3) Enter the username and password from step #1 above and you will be logged into your WordPress back office!

WordPress Alternative Login Option #2:

This option is actually a bit easier than option #1, but it's also less secure. When you are in your WA Hub or Site Manager, Right-Click the "Log in" button next to the "admin" account and select "Copy link address" from the popup menu that appears. Depending on the browser you are using, this option might be worded slightly different.

This will copy a crazy long URL to your clipboard that looks something like this:

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/websites/login/<YourWebsiteURL>/YW
aWRt4=/-/UkJxazF4eeWixd8PeKrrsseVsVDlZWnduaEVoUsjdfksUKDD
UZFl4OThnaz06OlJYbDMqfkOdkwE4amltw4

The password for your user account is actually encrypted within that long string of letters and numbers in the URL.

You can now create a bookmark using this URL, or add it to your favorite password manager, and click on it whenever you want to login to your WordPress back office.

Keep in mind, this URL does not reveal your password, but it does make it possible for anyone to login to your WordPress back office if they get their hands on the link. So protect it and make sure your computer is secure & locked whenever you walk away.

A great reminder here Dave, appreciate the share my friend! :-)

Some good info, Dave! I always use option two!

Jeff

thank you :)

It wasn't until I started using the Hubs, that I would log into my sites via website manager.
The /wp-admin way to login has been my go-to from anywhere online.

And a quick note, if you visit your site, and you need login, simply type in the /wp-admin tag after the dot com, hit enter, and you will open the WP admin login page.

Rudy

Thanks for sharing Dave!
