30 Days To Crush Email Marketing!

Day 21

Who Bought My Product?

Hey guys, welcome to Day 21 of my 30 Day Email Marketing Challenge. It's the weekend and I hope everyone is doing the stuff they love to do.

I've a massively important question to ask you today...the answer to which can directly impact how successful you'll business will be!

Do you know who your target audience is?

Do you know your market and who you want to serve?

I know I know, I've actually just asked you 2 questions! I'll really have to go away and work on my maths :) but in my defence they kind of both go hand in hand.

Before we can start to build a successful business..we have to know who it is we want to reach!

Talking from my own personal experience, don't make the mistake of building your business first before deciding who your target audience is. That's like building a house from the ground up and then saying..."Oh Sh#t I forgot to lay the foundations"

Deciding who you want to target is your very first step. Once you know who your audience is you then need to connect with them. And trust me, without a proper connection you'll never grow your list.

Within previous posts I've mentioned the dangers of thinking of our subscribers in terms of list size instead of individuals. Believe you me, if we make this mistake it'll create a disconnection between us and our readership that will eventually destroy our list.

Remember always that we are dealing with real people and our aim must remain constant, to serve our members in a way that helps them solve their problems and/or reach their goals.

To create that connection with our target audience stop thinking of them as a crowd or a large number. The way I achieve this is to imagine my ideal reader and write my message to them as if it is a one on one conversation. Every reader wants to feel that special bond, that they are the only person in the room.

The final thing I want to mention is how important listening is. One of the comments I received in yesterdays post from elizabeth mentioned it and it is so so true.

By actively listening to what your audience has to say you'll quickly figure out how best to connect with them. Listening encourages interaction and builds trust.

I will leave it there for today...if you've enjoyed my post don't forget to click like and as always I would love to hear your comments if you want to leave one below.

So how do we actually keep our readers coming back for more? That's what we'll be chatting about tomorrow..see you then.

I will leave you with my thought of the day...

You'd better believe it!

Have a wonderful Saturday...

Excellent blog and I LOVE that quote!

Hi Rosie, thank you, glad you liked it. :)

You have a wonderful weekend.

And you too Rog :)

What an awesome quote to finish this blog off with! Nice work, these posts are so easy to read and absorb!

Colin

Hi Colin, glad you're enjoying my posts and thanks for leaving such a positive comment. Cheers bud

Listen or hear? Jay

Both, it's more of an understanding after listening and hearing what your target market wants and to solve a problem or offer a solution.

Hi Jay, great insight. There's a lot of hearing going on around the place but not so much a listening :) But I'm listening to you and I hear you loud and clear..cause we're all Sea Puppies here :)

Thanks for making an emotional connection. :) there is too much hearing and not enough listening and listening is hard work. Of course, we could talk about too much talking and not enough communicating also. Love it, great post. Jay

First of all, appreciate you taking my reference, it means a lot!!! Second of all, this is EXACTLY what I am going through with my venture. It is in Corporate Wellness and I am having to create an avatar for HR professionals, go where they go, speak their language and understand their pain points. It is not easy but I try to engage every way I can. You have to emerse yourself in their world, talk to them, then you will understand how to create your product or service that will solve their problems. Listening is key, and you will be able to successfully connect.

Another fine post in your journey, thanks for taking me along and showing insight. Have a great Saturday!

No problem with the reference Elizabeth...it's my pleasure and we're supposed to be supporting one another aren't we. It really sounds as though you are throwing yourself in to your latest venture into the realms of HR. There's empathy and then there's full immersion..I like it and I wish you the best of luck with it. Hoping you're having a great Saturday.

A great reminder and full of insight!

Hi Erin, such a kind comment, thank you. Enjoy the rest of your day

A great reminder of engaging - connecting with audience - trust - sale, which seems simple, but hard to master this art. I am working on it hoping to see its fruition.

Thanks a lot.

Thank you

"I'm coming for everything they said I couldn't have."...that says it all !!!

Hi Vern, don't you get fed up when people tell you that "you can't do that" or "you'll never be able to achieve that"...well stuff um :) Have a great day buddy

Good post buddy, you have realized the importance of listening and making your readers listened as I listened to your blogging.

Keep up the good fight.

Hi H, glad you enjoyed my post. I hear you buddy :) All the best and have a good day

List size vs. Individual. One - on - one communication. Great perspective to have. It's easy to get lost in a large = money mentality. If we focus on individuals, subscribers will feel more "at home" with us.

Oh... Thank you and have a great Saturday as well!

Hi Bob, yes absolutely. Thanks for stopping by. Hope you having a great Saturday also.
