Strategies, Strategies & More Strategies - Day 9
30 Days To Crush Email Marketing!
Day 9
Strategies, Strategies & More Strategies.
Hello my fellow marketers, I hope you all had good weekends, albeit they passed way too quickly as is the law of the universe! Monday is upon as once again and hopefully you are raring to get started on a new and productive week.
So, today is Day 9 of my 30 Day Email Marketing Challenge and to be quite frank...the time is starting to fly by rather quickly.
Yesterday we spoke about that dirty word "selling" and whether or not it is acceptable to start offering products for sale to your readers immediately on their sign-up to your email list. Of course "selling" isn't a dirty word.
Today I want to talk a little about Strategy..
Just a few short days ago on Day 2;
https://my.wealthyaffiliate.co...
we discussed our marketing plan. We hopefully realised how very important it was to create and write down what it was we were trying to achieve during this challenge. We had an honest conversation regarding where each of us were right now and where it was that we wanted to be in 30 days time and beyond!
By the end of that conversation on Day 2...we should have attained an overall idea of what it will take to reach our personal goals during the coming month.
Now it’s time to take the next exciting step towards our goals which involves us coming up with ideas for the content of the emails we'll be sending in whatever topic you may be writing about.
The first thing you have to decide is what kind of marketer you are? What works best for you in terms of your work output? Do you work best by creating content all in one go...or are you a "fly by the seat of your pants" kind of marketer who is happy writing your content as you go along?
There is no right way or wrong way when it comes to deciding this. I myself generally like to produce my content ahead of time, although I must admit for this series I am writing it one day at a time.
But writing content this way has a couple of big drawbacks. It obviously makes fitting everything you want to share and promote in much more difficult and more importantly than anything else, it provides you fewer opportunities to create the buzz and anticipation for what’s to come...simply because you haven't written it yet!
Why is this important? Because the name of the game is getting your readers attention...of which the first step is to get them to actually open your email in the first place! Not being able to plan your content ahead of time will undoubtedly affect your email open rates and every other conversion metric that you’re tracking from click through rates through to your ultimate sales and bottom line.
So coming up with a content strategy in advance is a massively important step.... because it allows you to hint at what’s to come. You can share content around a certain topic teasing your readers long before you present the actual post or email. If you carry this out correctly, it will create a buzz and anticipation and your readers will actively look for your emails and open them as soon as they hit their inbox :)
So, what's the best way to go about creating such a strategy. Let me share my own personal approach.
I like to work backwards from my end goal...you may have heard the term reverse engineering....and that is exactly how I like to work.
I ask myself, What's my end goal? Once I have firmly established what this is, I then work on producing some content that supports this goal.
I then think about where my readers are right now and what it is I need to do to lead them towards my end goal.
*VERY IMPORTANT: Remember that with your end goal will present your readers with some sort of offer or service...so your ultimate goal is to open up their minds to the possibility that they this product or service will solve a problem or assist them in meeting a need.
I will then get out my calendar or planner and write my daily content which takes my reader from point A to point B. And as the little MeerKat says...Simples!
I will leave it there for today...I hope you have found the content interesting.
Tomorrow it all gets real...as I get into the real nitty gritty of creating a mailing calendar..you don't want to miss it!
I will leave you with my thought for the day...
Be brave enough to lay it on the line...

Hi Mike, keep at it..driving visitors to your opt in offer is the tough part but key to gaining new followers. Keep an eye on your stats and don't be scared to tweak things accordingly.

I LOVE your visuals and your writing style but the visuals are wow!
I have just added my first CTA as Jay calls it to the very very bottom of my post - in palest ink - and FREE to subscribe and join a closed group. But you have to be a teacher and . . . . .
I almost took it off put I've published it now. sylv
Hi Sylvia, thank you for your kind comments. You have highlighted a very common feeling that the majority of bloggers grapple with especially when just starting out. We almost feel like "little old me..what gives me the right to enpart information to my peers" We look around and see other authoritative leaders who we feel are much more qualified than us..we can even feel like frauds! But the simple and honest truth is...your personal and unique experiences earned through education or life in general gives you just as much right to share with your group. The internet community world wide is vast and you will find a group of people within your specialised topic who will want to listen to you and become part of your tribe :) So I am glad you didn't take your CTA down!
Thank you, Anthony. I hear you . . .
