I Have A Question For You
Hello and welcome to Day 14 of my 30 Day Email Marketing Challenge. Wow it's so late ..I only have approx 50 mins before I officially miss posting for this day!
I've been out all day having just returned from attending a University open day with my son. Although my body is crying out for bed...I feel compelled to get this post out before midnight comes and goes..in order to keep this 30 Day Challenge alive and feeling legit.
As I hinted within yesterdays post...I have a question to ask you today. More specifically, I have a question that I want you to ask yourself each time you sit down to write an email to your subscriber list.
It really doesn't matter whether we are talking about a broadcast or auto responder..before you hit that publish button ask yourself this:
What's the purpose of this email?
Be honest with yourself...how often do you just hit send having just gone through the motions...on auto pilot? Does this following scenario sound familiar...
You have decided to email your list...or it's down on your calendar to write and send today. You sit down at your PC, write something and hit send.
I have definitely done this quite a lot in the past. I may have written a great post or offered a great tip but did I write it with true purpose?..what I mean by this is do the various different aspects that make up the mail meet this purpose..does the email fit into my overall content and marketing strategies? OR am I just going through the motions?
If you are simply going through the motions each time you write an email...then you need to amend this habit immediately. If you are serious about making a living from your list..your emails must be written with a clear purpose.
When you next sit down to write an email..determine EXACTLY what the purpose of it is, and what goal you want to achieve with it before you start writing. You will be blown away with the improvement in your copywriting skills!

I do try to make a purpose before I hit send, but not all the times are CTA's. Sometimes I just want the reader to read my latest post. I do not want to lose their engagement, but I do send CTA emails out too.
Hi Mike, yes I know exactly what you mean...and it sounds as though you've identified the purpose of the non CTA emails you're sending out..because you're clearly asking your readers to complete an action which is to read your latest post. It's such a great skill to have and will help get the best out of audience. Hope you're having another great weekend with the kids.
