30 Days To Crush Email Marketing!

Day 4

I Am Engaged!

Good morning my fellow marketers..it is Wednesday and Day 4 of my 30 Day Email Marketing Challenge.

I apologise for the subject title this morning, may I just clarify for the record...I am not actually engaged to be married at the moment..but I am engaged with my members and subscribers :)

Yesterday we spoke about the importance of our welcome email..It welcomes our readers, introduces us to them and it sets expectations for what’s to come and what our new subscribers can expect from us, It is a hand shake across the internet :)

One of the most important goals for this 30 day email marketing challenge is to increase engagement with our subscribers. If you were to gain nothing else but this from the rest of these 30 days..I want you to go away with a new found understanding and appreciation of the importance of engagement with your subscribers and followers.

Because I feel so strongly about this specific topic, I thought we’d dedicate today's post to exploring what exactly engagement is and why it’s so so important. Anyone who knows me will tell you immediately how I feel about this area of marketing, engaging our audience is one of the biggest secrets to email marketing success!

What Does It Mean To Engage With Our Subscribers?

Think of engagement as a 2 way conversation. A 1-on-1 dialog between you and your member. We need our readers and subscribers to interact with us...because interaction builds a real relationship..and through relations comes trust. This fact cannot be overstated enough.

Engagement can happen in a multitude of ways. We can ask our members questions, have them hit reply and email us. We can encourage them to email us with questions and suggestions. We can interact with our readers on social media or through blog comments. The simple act of getting them to click or take some sort of action as a result of our email is engagement.

At the very least we want to connect with our subscribers in some way, shape, or form. Make them think, wonder, or laugh about our emails. Introduce that human connection...we all walk the same path and we experience the very same problems as one another, yes we are all human..LOL

Why Is This Engagement So Important To Us And Our Bottom Line?

The big question, of course, is why we have to worry about this whole engagement thing anyhow.

Quite simply, It’s because we have to build a relationship with our readers. Especially as most of our business models are monetised, that is, our businesses exist with the main intention to sell a product or an idea...we need our subscribers to know, like, and trust us. Until they do...they'll never get out their wallet and buy something from us.

It doesn’t matter if we have our own products or are promoting affiliate offers. The relationship with our potential customers has to be there first. Talking to our readers and getting to know them better also helps us decide what to offer them in the first place. This conversation can teach us a lot about how to talk to them and how to position our offers to them. So in fact...it is a valuable tool at our disposal.

But What About My Readers?

We aren’t the only people benefiting from this increased engagement. While financial gain is all well and good, we are actually also doing our subscribers a favour. We're taking the time to get to know them better. We're making an effort to serve them better. This isn’t about making more sales for the sole purpose of padding your bank account.

It’s about serving our market and serving them well. The best way to do that is engaging our readers, listening to them, getting to know them and their needs and then helping them fulfil those needs.

I think that is a good place to leave it for today. I hope you have enjoyed today's post...as you may have guessed...customer engagement is one of my passions.

Tomorrow I will talk a little bit about the mechanisms and options we have to send emails out to our subscribers.

Until then, I will leave you with today's thought...

Have a fabulous and productive Wednesday

...see you tomorrow!

Hi Julia, I suppose no pun intended lol. Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment. Hope to see along for the duration. Have a great day :)

Hey Anthony - you just wrote that title to provoke us to click on it, didn't you!? I thought, Anthony's over the moon about someone and is happily engaged. But, no. Still, you might have been. Thanks for the Engagement info. You do have my attention now - which means you have succeeded, yes? Can't wait to see what you post next. Sylvie

Gd Morning Sylvie, alas, no engagements on the horizon at the moment. In my defence I did include a disclaimer and an apology on this post lol. We tread a fine line when offering up attention grabbing headlines..I am glad you chose to see the funny side :)

Thanks for sharing.

You're welcome buddy
