30 Days To Crush Email Marketing!
Day 5
Should I Blast it?
A warm welcome to you on what is Day 5 of this 30 Day Email Marketing Challenge. It is Thursday and I must say that this week is flying by at lightning speed.
Yesterday we explored the topic of "customer engagement" and how important it is to practice it within our businesses.
Today I want to investigate a little into the types of delivery methods we deploy in order to interact and engage with our customers.

It will be one of the first decisions we have to make when we sit down to write an email to our list. Do we want to add it to our auto-responder or send it to our list as a broadcast. There will also be occasions when we may want to send it to both.
In today’s post we’ll quickly touch upon that decision making progress and I'll walk us through some scenarios for each option.
So, I can imagine some of you guys staring blankly at this post right now thinking what the hell is this guy on about - what is a broadcast, what is an auto-responder?

Let’s define them now.

- A broadcast email is a message that goes out to our entire list of subscribers at the same time. Let’s say we are working with a list of 500 subscribers. If sending a broadcast email today, every single one of those 500 people will get the email in their inbox.
- With an auto-responder, they will receive the message depending on when they signed up for the list. The big advantage here is that when someone new signs up next week, they'll eventually get the auto-responder message because obviously they would have missed the earlier broadcast.
So when should we be using one rather than the other?
A common scenario for using a broadcast email is when we come across a great offer for our list which has a time sensitive aspect to it, such as promoting a webinar or an event, content mentioning dates or a holiday and of course a weekly or monthly newsletter.

When the content or offer we're sharing is evergreen (it has no specific date dependency), it makes sense to add it to our auto-responder. Over time, it will get more exposure as our list grows.
And of course there are specific emails we write for our auto-responder from the start like our welcome email, touched upon in Day 3's post
https://my.wealthyaffiliate.co.../marketeer1/blog/the-welcome-email-day-3
and a series of messages designed to introduce ourselves to our readers and start building that rapport that’s so so important.

With the rest of the evergreen content, it’s really up to you. A great strategy that I have often used in the past is to send email messages out as a broadcast first in order to get real-time reactions from my members. Then I take the emails that perform well and add them to my auto responder series.
Some of our readers will see the email again and anyone new to our list will see it eventually. It’s a great way to re purpose our email content (a topic worthy of it's own post within the next few days) and make sure we get the most from each email message we spent time and effort writing.
I will leave it there for today...tomorrow I want to explore what a good email is made up of.
Until then I will leave you with today's thought...
