30 Days To Crush Email Marketing!

Day 13

Do I Need A Template?

Good afternoon one and all and welcome to Day 13 of my 30 Day Email Marketing Challenge. For all of you out there of a superstitious nature..I hope this Friday 13th is being kind to you!

I think we can all agree that internet services have come a very long way in a relatively short space of time. Those of you who go back to the early 90's myself included have seen enormous changes from clunky interfaces to today's easy drag and drop editors.

This applies across the board..no more complicated time consuming coding .. just easy to use tools that make it quick and easy to create stunning websites and also emails!

We now have the ability to create and save our very own email templates. If you haven’t done so already, I really suggest that you get onto this at your first opportunity as there are numerous benefits to creating and using templates in our email marketing.

The first of which is the obvious one..as it gives your emails a polished and consistent look

You instantly look professional.

You can incorporate some simple branding like your business logo, or an image of yourself with your closing message.

In conjunction with looking professional you also instil a consistent look and feel with each email you create and publish.

You will become recognisable to your readers and they will get used to and comfortable with your certain look and style. That in turn builds trust.

The second reason is..it saves you time and effort

We have previously discussed the enormous amount of time and effort that goes into creating and publishing our emails.

There are so many different things that we need to stay on top of...and the look and structure of each individual email doesn't have to be one of them.

Because using a template removes that additional burden from you. Work smarter and take advantage by adopting a template.

The third reason is my favourite one..using a template means you no longer start with a blank page.

I am all for this...avoiding the dreaded blank page! Regardless of our determination or experience..we all have struggled to get started when we are faced with the blank page. On a personal level I have probably accumulated weeks worth of hours staring at a blank page over the years..and on many of those occasions It resulted in me just abandoning what I was doing altogether!

With the inclusion of a template you may still be faced with a screen with no content yet..but you can already have your own personalised greeting and tag line along with your personalised closing, photo and links. This not only saves you time...but also provides a massive psychological advantage to you because it's writing on a page and a starting point for you to write your content.

If you now take a step back...and think about the stuff we have already covered in this challenge you will begin to see an impressive set of tools at our disposal.

Deploying an email template in conjunction with having already created a basic outline of our goals, a content plan and a calendar... all we have to tackle now is to write the content. When we get stuck (and we will from time to time...because we all do)..all we have to do is access our swipe folder to look that injection of inspiration.

Feeling a little more organised? I hope so...and tomorrow I want to start by asking you all a very serious question,

what's the purpose of your.... ?

I will leave you with my thought of the day...

Get your shoes on and start pounding those steps...

YES, love using templates. Although I have to change them a lot because they don't always have what i want. But it still saves time because the template finally gets set.

Hi Sylvia, I love them also. I think back to the time before templates were so readily available..and the time I wasted trying to format emails..nightmare :) Thanks for stopping by. Have a great day

Excellent information Anthony. I definitely agree that using templates is a great time saver.
Jerome

Hi Jerome, yes me also, it may only save us a few minutes per email...but imagine how much time that equates to over a year..probably days worth of time savings. Thanks for your continued support in this challenge..it is fantastic.

I actually don't know how to use a template or how to create one.

Hi Rebecca, it is not an issue..and you are not alone...I'll add that to the list of stuff to cover in the technical training I am writing to follow up after this latest 30 Day Challenge has been completed.

great points on using a template. Thanks again. Jay

Hi Karen, glad you found it helpful. Have a great weekend :)

Thanks Mike -

Thanks George, psst..I'm Anthony :)

I'm not even close! Anthony it is!

Thanks George :)

I use MailChimp for my email marketing. It is free and not hard to set up, however always use their URL shortener. If you put a shortened URL in the body, it will just disregard that URL.

Cheers Mike...great tip

Little by little we will reach our dreams. Keep up the great work buddy.

Thanks Erick, we both will. Cheers

Yap. One Step at a Time.

For sure..
Have a great day
