Bonus or a Bribe? - Day 27
30 Days To Crush Email Marketing!
Day 27
Bonus or a Bribe?
Hello and welcome to Day 27 of my 30 Day Email Marketing Challenge! It's a cold crisp Friday here in the UK..the leaves are falling from the trees and causing havoc with my trains :)
In yesterday’s post we talked about the importance of pointing out the flaws in the products and services we are promoting.
As I was a little pushed for time yesterday..what I didn't mention was one of the great ways we can deal with flaws and that is to create a bonus that helps our audience overcome those flaws.
By doing this we'll benefit on so many levels such as building further trust and it will potentially give us many more sales.
We've all bought products, especially info products where the owner has provided bonuses in addition to the main product or service..right?
For me personally, I often get put off from making a purchase if there are to many bonuses and especially if the bonuses have nothing to do with the main product that I'm interested in buying. May be that's just me...but there you have it.
Here’s the thing. Bonuses are great but only if they're deemed to be of real value and they're directly relevant to our readers needs.
They will help us make more sales whether the product we're promoting has flaws or not.
But if you have highlighted some flaws in a product, producing a bonus to over come that said flaw becomes an ideal way to earn more trust and sell more product.
One of the most common reasons to offer your prospects a bonus is when there are other marketers out there offering the same product. By offering a special bonus we can convince and entice people to order through our link instead of someone else’s.
Another type of prospect that you will no doubt encounter along the way is what is commonly known as a "fencer"...you know..the people who always sit on the fence :)
They normally want to buy, but are always a little reluctant to click that link to purchase. Most of the time, a well placed bonus is all it will take to get them off that fence!
And remember, bonuses don't just have to be physical or digital in nature...
One of the best bonuses we might offer could be our time, such as helping get them started, providing an introduction, which could be a one to one session or as part of a group session.
I will leave it there for today...I hope you have enjoyed this post, please remember to click like and leave a comment.
Tomorrow I want to explore the the truth behind to principle that "less is more"..and how it can improve our chances of converting our prospects into excited buyers..see you there :)
I will leave you with my thought of the day...
Chase down that distance...
Work to fully understand your audience!

Hi Jay, that's another great idea for a bonus..and very easy to provide. Thanks and have a great day :)
Hi Tim, in deed there isn't. Incidentally, did you know that that term originated from the practice English bakers in medieval times giving an extra loaf when selling a dozen to avoid being penalised for short weighting their customers.
The normal 90 day probation period is generally thought of as a method for a company to determine if a new hire is a good fit. I utilize the same model when I consult or work for a company now that I am at a certain age. This last three (3) weeks have clearly defined I am a good fit for the company but the company is not a good fit for me. Jay
I wonder if every employee were able to reciprocate that norm..how many would actually be searching for a new job..or even career? Happy to hear all is good and one way or another you have come away with the correct decision :)
We are all able to choose but must be willing to make the choice. We never know if the decision is correct in advance but must live with the ramifications and make the best of it. Thanks, Jay
Hi! My dear Marketer!, I like some ongoing evolving controversy which in time moves the world but still by the perceived power of what can be good for me, either real or quasi-real or subliminal. Your thought and elaboration on these relevant subjects excited me well and I concurred to follow and see. I like it. Keep more to come, and I wait.
Best to success,
James

I hate it when you click to buy and then something else is added so you decline, then something else is added, so you decline again and yet something else is added - makes me want to delete accept I've already paid for the first part. I feel cheated because sometimes it can say if you purchase this as well it will be so much better - usually diet programs.
Hi Sylvia, yes I know what you mean...but it's the up-sell's and down-sell's that revolutionised the sales funnel and doubled and qua-tripled marketers profits overnight. If done ethically it can benefit the customer immensely. What does make me laugh is...if you purchase something and then are immediately given the chance of a downsell which you turn down...you may then be sent to an up-sell? Human psychology, it's so messed up :)
