30 Days To Crush Email Marketing!

Day 28

Is Less Really More?

Hello and welcome to Day 28 of my 30 Day Email Marketing Challenge! Only 2 more days to go in this latest challenge...I'm looking forward to a day off!

Today's post is going to be short and sweet....a bit like the topic area itself. There's always a temptation to write long and elaborate emails, especially when we first get into Email Marketing.

All I would say to you is, put yourself in the shoes of your subscriber...or even better, think what it's like when you've been a subscriber in the past yourself.

Most of us get dozens of emails landing in our inbox's each and every day and we just don’t have the time to read lengthy emails most of the time.

Instead, we skip over them or skim through them, promising ourselves that we'll come back to them to read later … which of course we never do!

Our own subscribers are no different. We should be creating emails which are short and sweet...and to the point....we must always be respectful of our readers time.

You may remember that I've mentioned in earlier posts, let our sales page do the majority of the “talking” for us. Resist the urge to sell in your email.

It takes time to get into the habit of writing concisely..and I also never get tempted to hit the publish button until I have had time to read it over at least 2 times before clicking send!

We want the main body of text to flow smoothly...making it easy for our member to read.

It's purpose is to tweak their curiosity enough for them to want to click the link to the sales page where they will find more details of the product / or service offered...and if we've done our job right, the prospect will buy our product!

I will leave it here for today..I told you it was going to be short and sweet!

Hope you have found some value in today's post...if you have don't forget to click Like and /or leave a comment below.

See you tomorrow for the penultimate post in this series :(

I will leave you with my thought for today...

There's a time to LEARN....

and then it's time to EARN!!!

Glad you talk about getting to the point. Though we are encouraged in our training to write at least 1000-1200 words per post. I know at school we are encouraged to write short reports for our parents.

Hi Sylvia, nice to hear from you. There are particular reasons why we would want to size our content in blog posts and there is a time and place to do this...but in terms of email marketing..the offer email must always be concise and to the point as it's aim is to capture our subscribers attention and build anticipation to click through for more info. It then becomes the job of your separate sales page to sell the prospect on our offer. Have a great day :)

Oh - I see, I think. Only the sales page should be concise. The content pages can and should be longer to prove our knowledge. Is that what you mean? Sorry, keep asking too many questions.

You can never ask too many questions :) Publishing content in terms of posting to a blog have a separate set of criteria..all to do with indexing and ranking by the search engines such as Google, Bing and the like.

When we're talking about sending offer emails to our subscriber list, we are not interested in Google or the like...as we are communicating directly to our list. We need to keep the emails short and sweet as not to bore our prospects that they close the email without clicking on our offer link within.

We will typically direct our readers to a Sales page after clicking the link within the email. That page can be a lengthy as you like..but it's job is to close the client and make the sale. Then happy days :)

It is getting to the point when if you cannot get your idea over in a short - but interesting - way, then people will not take the time to read to the end.

Hi John, yes it's all about striking headlines and minimising our processing time...I suppose one day we'll just be talking by sending abbreviations and emoji's...oh I forgot, we already do :) Thanks for stopping by and I hope you're enjoying your weekend.

Always put yourself in their shoes Anthony!

Hi Mike, yes, sound advice

I love that quote at the bottom of your post, Anthony!

Oh....and on rare occasions, I actually do go back to read over those lengthier emails, lol.

Hi Veronica, how's my favourite "inner circle" cake eating partner in crime doing today? I hope you're having a great weekend so far. Thanks for stopping by..I'll have to write a lengthier email and put you to the test :)

LOL....Give me any test you got, Anthony!!!

I spent all day cleaning yesterday, so today I'm just catching up on...you guessed...emails!!!

Such a good thought, alas I picked it at the end of the day...

Hi Anne, glad you liked it. I wish you a pleasant evening :)

Hi Lori, I'll dance to that one :)

I have not reached so far with my thoughts. but I'll spend some time reading your entire challenge through

Hi Steen, glad you found it interesting. On Day 30 I will include a post with all links in order for the entire 30 posts..which should make it easier to navigate them. Cheers buddy...have a great weekend

Thank you I am looking forward to reading it

Love the thought for the day. Hadn't heard that one before.
Debbie
