Facbook Engagement - Or The Lack Of It!
I've had a facebook personal profile "page" for a few years but never really got the hang of it. I wasn't too bothered because I only wanted to share stuff that was important to me with those who felt it might be interesting to them too.
I knew the difference between a personal profile page (wall), a feed, a business/fan page and a group but didn't know much about the nuances that separate them and the different ways in which they can be properly utilised. Like I said, I wasn't too bothered.
Facebook For Business
I always thought that if you ran any sort of business or organisation, on or offline, that a Facebook Business (Fan) Page was the way to go....in fact I run a modest one for a small local charity that I'm the Chairman for.
I didn't think that a personal wall was the place on Facebook to be doing business on but I've recently had a slow boil Damascene type conversion inspired by one of our fellow members at Wealthy Affiliate.
Nobody who interacts with me on my personal wall knows what I do here, I've kept it completely separate from my personal life and thought that's how it would always be, but.........

......and to step outside of your comfort zone!
Well I'm certainly stepping out of mine because I'm now changing my personal profile wall to reflect what I do now and what I will be doing here in the future with more gusto!
Suddenly, my friends on Facebook, who only knew me for the personal stuff I posted before, will be seeing vastly different content from me than they had previously. I'm expecting a percentage of them to unfriend me as a result!
Free, Organic Traffic.
I'm reliably informed by our fellow member and friend that optimising one's personal profile to reflect what you do in business, posting appropriate content and carrying out certain tasks on a regular basis is the best way to build up a new set of friends and followers and drive FREE, ORGANIC traffic to your site/offer or whatever.
FREE and ORGANIC traffic to your offer!! What could be better than that??

Thanks Rami, I haven't been particularly active on Facebook previously either but the prospect of free organic traffic is a tantalising one hence my "conversion"😂😂

Its good that facebook has changed its rules.Mark.
Up to about a year ago it was frowned upon to share much business stuff beyond the odd post, that was for business pages only.
Even on business pages too much sharing was stopped by suspending the pages who ovely shared.
Its about time they became human again.

Hi Linda, I wasn't aware there was a rule change because I wasn't really that aware of anything that went on at FB.
I'll be taking more notice from now on though!

No not usually, maybe an occasional share. I haven't used FB much in more than a year though, just have a few automated posts going through my business page.
I got put off 2-3 years ago when they deliberately kept restricting small businesses, it got very hard work.
Glad it is improving.
As you've ridden the fb horse before Linda have you thought about getting back on again?
Heidi's posts and training made me look at it in a whole new light!

Maybe at some time in the future when they ruin IG too by pushing out small businesses unless they pay for ads.
It was so good but he got greedy, I don't like that.
