Facbook Engagement - Or The Lack Of It!

I've had a facebook personal profile "page" for a few years but never really got the hang of it. I wasn't too bothered because I only wanted to share stuff that was important to me with those who felt it might be interesting to them too.

I knew the difference between a personal profile page (wall), a feed, a business/fan page and a group but didn't know much about the nuances that separate them and the different ways in which they can be properly utilised. Like I said, I wasn't too bothered.

Facebook For Business

I always thought that if you ran any sort of business or organisation, on or offline, that a Facebook Business (Fan) Page was the way to go....in fact I run a modest one for a small local charity that I'm the Chairman for.

I didn't think that a personal wall was the place on Facebook to be doing business on but I've recently had a slow boil Damascene type conversion inspired by one of our fellow members at Wealthy Affiliate.

Nobody who interacts with me on my personal wall knows what I do here, I've kept it completely separate from my personal life and thought that's how it would always be, but.........

Always Be Prepared To Change!

......and to step outside of your comfort zone!

Well I'm certainly stepping out of mine because I'm now changing my personal profile wall to reflect what I do now and what I will be doing here in the future with more gusto!

Suddenly, my friends on Facebook, who only knew me for the personal stuff I posted before, will be seeing vastly different content from me than they had previously. I'm expecting a percentage of them to unfriend me as a result!

I'm reliably informed by our fellow member and friend that optimising one's personal profile to reflect what you do in business, posting appropriate content and carrying out certain tasks on a regular basis is the best way to build up a new set of friends and followers and drive FREE, ORGANIC traffic to your site/offer or whatever.

FREE and ORGANIC traffic to your offer!! What could be better than that??
