WordPress is to release a new update (Version 4.5) which is currently scheduled for April 12, 2016. This is not a minor security update. It's a big one.
The last major update (Version 4.4.0) had a lot of changes and some websites were "broken" for a while, including mine. I went through a horror stretch for a few days before things settled down. I had to install a new plugin to get back some of my theme's features. I'm not going through that again.

I know, you'll be working on your website between now and April 12, so what good is backing up now? Good practice! Learn how to do it now so when the time comes for the update you'll just take it in your stride.
Yeah, I know, WA backs up your website for you regularly but what happens when half the members here all want their website restored to what it was before the update? All at the same time! I guess you'll just have to join the queue.
