I am an advocate for resilience. Very much involved in helping people and communities be more resilient in response to and recovery from natural disasters. It is one reason I help people create independent incomes. You cannot prepare when you are living paycheck to paycheck. This article made me think of the Honolulu Zoo's vulnerability to tsunami. No way to evacuate the animals. No one likes to think about the bad things that can happen, but knowing your risks is the only way to prepare to be able to handle them. Risks are not just natural disasters. Risk plus probability of occurrence equals urgency.

I used to work here on WA for 7 hours a day, but in spring first dad passed away now this flooding and I cant recover from shock, I have been here rarely thsese last months, as for independent income, besides working I made ma own business and till now I am successfully running it, let's see what happens caz I am a hard worker

Has your business been affected by the flooding. Sounds like writing business plans and related materials can be done from anywhere you have a computer. Ideal. Just be sure to take your computer when you have to evacuate. Better yet, also have your important documents saved to the cloud. I use a program called gotbackup because it not only backs up my computer automatically, I can access my backup from any internet connected computer just as if it was another hard drive. Great for collaboration, I can share files with anyone. Business recovery plans should be part of every business plan.
This world is going completely mad. These animals were in the custody of humans, they provided an educational facility for humans, yet at the first sign of problems (no fault of the animals), we revert to type and kill first. As I look around me I despair of this world. Maybe we deserve an epidemic that would wipe us from the face of this Earth, so the Earth can start again. I have young grandchildren and I wonder what their future is.
As humans so the animals have right to live, and I am sure grandchildren will have better future than we have
Red this on the news. According to the news, the govt blamed the zoo officials for not giving reliable information and constant updates. I guess its about coordination and communication, and transparency.
It was a lie and when ppl protested they gave in, zoo officials shud not be blamed, even zoo workers died in saving the animals and zoo director cried when they killed the animals he grew them as his own kids
I saw it on the news here Manchini, it's an uncalled for action to kill the zoo animals on spot, the death penalty for getting loose.
I am sooo upset Loes, poor animals did not kill even a single person, and shumba was very friendly and he was in a cage but they still killed him. The tiger which was 3 days hungry yesterday killed a man, but it was gov. fault not tiger's, caz they said all animals were either dead or caged
