The Youthfulness Of The WA Community. Age Statistics Members
I Asked, I Got Data (and a lot more!)
In short I posted a blog https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/malherbe/blog/how-...
The gist of the blog is "how old is a Wealthy Affiliate?" I also tell you straight up I'm 58 years young (a mere whipper-snapper as one gentleman replied).
The Response
The replies were both interesting and refreshing. My responders were great and I thank each one for their contribution to my question and for all the additional notes and messages. If you look only the the blog you may wonder what I'm on about.You can count; I got twenty people willing to state their age "out in the open". Brave, confident, self-assured (or maybe I just didn't get enough readers).
I did get a lot of replies to my personal messages - 185 replies from 221 sent. Not bad odds. Better still only one response was, "I'm not telling you my age!". Well, maybe the other 36 feel that and simply didn't say so?
The Result
This may not surprise some of you nearly as much as it surprised me;
- Almost 64% of Wealthy Affiliates are 50 years young and marching deeper into the odometer;
- nearly every response in this large group were quick to point out;
- "but I'm not old",
- "I feel younger",
- "Age is just a number",
- or something along those general lines!
What I should have added to my questions was, "and how long have you been at WA?"
Truth is I looked at your profiles and I'm happy to say some of you have been here for many years. It bodes well for the newcomers - this is a good things with long term prospects;
AND VERY IMPORTANT
It tells each of us that we have a lot of experience that we can call upon and trust because the maturity is in the community. Just be free to ask for help.
Disclaimer
Statistics are invariably a small snapshot of information in a big landscape. I'd love to have much more data to work with. I'm also more than happy to update my graph occasionally;
AND
I would be delighted if you use this information for yourself. I only ask that you let me know you are doing so.
Thank you for taking the time to read my blog and let me know what you think, your age, anything else pertinent - either here or in a PM.
Regards,
Simon

Hi Keith, as commented to Mick, I was a little surprised. I expected a lot more people with low odometers simple due to web literacy.
I think the numbers may be a bit skewed because us older individuals like to demonstrate just haw we are able to deal with this brave new world. And are more likely to put their hand up - I now I did.
Nevertheless, I am happy to be here and looking forward to your next survey.
Love the results, it probably reflects the low retirement benefits some get. Most are probably searching for a way to supplement the monthly income. That is why I'm here!!!
Hi Liz, just commented on precisely that to Mike. And you are one of many wit the same motivation for being here. Let's just hope it turns into much more fun than that dirty four letter word "WORK".
That suprised me. but you have to remember, Most 50 to 60 year old people are helping their kids with bills or what ever. and would love a little extra money.
Hi Mike, yes, that's part of it.The others that seem to be drivers are an inadequate social security/pension check and wanting to pay it forward - by sharing a wealth of experience and knowledge.
