Very great post and advice! As long as you get started somewhere, no matter if it is the perfect niche, you are still learning what works and what doesn't. As the saying goes practice makes perfect. Love the pic! Thanks for sharing this!

Great Post! I think everyone should take this into consideration. Waiting is only procrastination and will only delay you further towards your ultimate goal. Picking a niche, any niche, one that may not be perfect, is a training ground to get you started. I have learned so much working on my first niche, and I KNOW it wont be my last. I have a few more which I have realized, through the creation of my first, could be more profitable, and could possibly be more enjoyable for me. Once I think I've learned enough from my first mistakes :) I will venture into the other sites. There is so much we can learn from each other and from ourselves as long as we just do it! Thanks for sharing this!

Many MANY people have this problem. It is the fear of being wrong as much as it is the fear of not being perfect. People tend to think that there is a very specific process here that will lead to success when in actuality, your own uniqueness is perfectly fine (and very much encouraged).

Choose something, ANY niche. I always like to let people know that there are 2 billion people online and that any niche can be profitable. That is a lot of people that you could potentially reach!

You make excellent points! The best niche and the one that makes the most money sits not in the best looking website or lowest price, but it is a solution found by the biggest number of people. Two examples come to mind:
1. Apple computers... very definitely NOT the cheapest and I have no experience of it to comment on the quality, but it is somehow the solution to what millions of people want and need.
2. Drugs.... expensive, hazardous, NO website(!), but fulfills a need and the wealth of the 'guru' suppliers is legendary.
I dream of gazillions of visitors to what might not be a perfect site, but if it offers a solution to a problem they have; the price will be irrelevant.
In fact, I think the problem everyone in IM has, sits in two simple little words... lack of targeted traffic. When you found that, please let me know, I'll help push the wheel barrows full of money to the bank!!

I was watching a documentary with Stephen Hawking, the theoretical physicist last night and he said something very poignant.

He said that perfection does not exist in the universe. Not only that, but the lack of perfection in the universe is the only reason we exist.

I say we need to embrace the imperfection!

Oh, I forgot to mention that I absolutely LOVE the picture! Makes for a very good hook to reel one in to the blog!

I can understand that. I knew what my niche was in my heart, just didn't act on it right away. Personal feelings and memories can be helpful and a hinderance at the same time. But I did my soul-searching and knew what I was to do and I am doing it. Very theraputic and I hope and pray it will helpothers when they face all I faced in the last 3 years.
