Evergreen content is the content you write which remains timelessly relevant.

There are 5 ways in which having evergreen content can help your business;

1. It can help to drive your prospects to your sales funnel if you have one.

2. It helps to continually drive traffic to your site.

3. It helps to improve your Google search engine rankings.

4. It helps to position your brand as an industry leader and you, as an expert.

5. It helps you to connect with your audience on social media.

Some of the most common formats you may choose to consider are;

• Tips
• How-to content
• Product Reviews
• (Some) videos
• Listicles

Producing content using these formats does not automatically guarantee to make your piece evergreen, but these types of content do often lend themselves to becoming evergreen more than other formats. Creating videos which provide detailed useful information, like how to change a tyre, will always last the test of time moreso than a less practical video.

Examples of Evergreen Content.

1. How To Care For A New Pet.
(puppy, kitten etc). Animals and the internet are a match made in heaven, and content like this is fun and informative for new pet owners.

2. 10 Ways To Enjoy Coffee. When it is coming into the colder months, like it is now, a blog like this can create a surge on traffic, because people like to see twists on old classics, which can be a great starting point for an evergreen article.

Obviously, some or all of these ideas will not be relevant to your personal business. So you will need to create content that gives relevant value to your audience. The most difficult part of evergreen content is that quite often the most popular industry topics have already been covered, maybe even hundreds of times. If this is the case, you should try to add your own unique twist on a topic or why not search for long-tail keywords that have a good amount of traffic but not as much competition (remember the low hanging fruit). This is going to make your content highly valuable to your intended audience and importantly it will move your site up in the search engine results.

There is no specific amount of how much evergreen content your site should contain. But it's definitely advisable to have some.
