If I secure a domain name through Site Rubix is it guaranteed I will get to use it when I am ready to pay for it?
No, it is not. I wish it were but all you are doing is naming a subdomain when you create the free sites.

You can buy a domain name here: https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/websites/domains which you can attach to the website you created using siterubix. Once you purchase your domain name its yours. If you don't purchase it someone else can buy it. Basically its like buying a domain anywhere else. Once you buy it, its yours.

My website is not done yet but I want to promote WA, I need to get referrals rolling in to get me to Vegas lol.

You can use just the WA affiliate links if you're just sharing it with people you already know and have a relationship with. But the whole basis of WA is creating websites that help people solve their issues with our content and affiliate links. That process tends to be far more effective than just sharing affiliate links because you're building a relationship with people. The reason you joined WA is because you read my blog and you started to trust me. If I just gave you my WA link that probably wouldn't happen. So keep that in mind. You can always promote WA later and do it the proper way which is following the bootcamp training. But for now you might want to focus on your own niche as I described here: Should I Pick This Niche?

I'm writing my first blog, do I save it as a draft to go back and edit it, or do I publish it to keep it saved, because I don't want to lose all my work.
Could I type in
It's your site so you can do what you want. But in general most of us just save as draft and keep editing until we're ready to publish to the world.

My experience with Wordpress.As I type out my blog, it saves, so I think that you do not need to do it in word.
If you feel like saving, then save it as draft.
I would Preview the blog and see if I am happy, then only will I Publish.
