Tips to Help with Overwhelm
For all the new people on this platform or fairly new that haven't quite got to grips with it yet, give yourself a chance.
What do I mean?
There is so much available to learn here that it is easy to get lost in gaining knowledge rather than taking action.
For some or maybe many, the thought of having to write a lot of content can be terrifying. I hadn't written anything much of length since my school days. Faced with a blank page and the thought of creating something relevant in a1,000 words or more had me running scared.
The first few blogs are the hardest, then once you relax it flows more easily. You will find that you stop checking the word count because you don't need to.
Overwhelm!
Something else it is important to know! At some point in the first year, you may become overwhelmed and want to give up.
The enormity of the task will hit you, probably when you get stuck on something that you cannot seem to solve. You will feel alone, overwhelmed with a low mood (not depressed because that is something different) because you think you have wasted all this time and work.
This is the point NOT to give up! Why? Because it is usually the turning point. Take a break for a few days or more, if needed, then get back to work with fresh eyes. Within a short time, you will realise, it has all become so much easier.
AND best of all, you are not alone! Get stuck? Ask the community! You will get a variety of answers and at least one will probably resonate with you. Doesn't matter how daft it seems, just ask. I asked many very basic questions because some things I just didn't get. Most things were so simple, once I knew, but asking saved me a lot of time.
So ASK and keep on asking. The help is there but you have to ask.
No point in having a great resource and not using it.
So keep going and remember there is a whole community, lots of people about 24/7.
GOOD LUCK!
Linda

So true, Linda! It can be all of those things at the same time!
To reach out and ssk for help is such an easy request, yet, not everyone does.
At Wealthy Affiliate, many members love to help out, and will answer any question you may have. You never know, your question may teach us something we didnt know! I love when that happens!
Rudy
Exactly Rudy. Just wanted people to know that it is normal to feel that way and its better to ask for help.
Very true words, indeed, Linda! Some excellent motivation here!
I hope all is going well with you!
Jeff
Thank you Jeff.
Life has been crazy. Daughter seriously ill in hospital for many weeks, was tough and go for a while, much better now. Sister finally on the mend after fracturing her back, not helped by a torn muscle in the same place. Niece with injured wrist/hand and younger daughters FIL in hospital with a serious heart problem.
All needing extra support and keeping me on my toes caring for grandchildren and great grandchild.
Keeps me out of mischief.
How are you and your family keeping?
Wow, Linda! You have gotten hammered, it seems! I hope everyone mends up well and soon so you can get back to business!
It does keep you out of mischief though!
I am just living day to day and taking care of things as they come! Still separated from my family, but maybe one day that will change!
Keep going and succeeding!
Jeff
Did not realise you were separated from your family Jeff, I thought they were with you. Did something happen?
My lot are gradually mending, thank you. The human spirit has a strong survival instinct, lol.
It's been about a year and a half or better now, and a lot of it had to do with the oldest Stepdaughter (who is now an "adult") making demands, Linda! Slowly but surely, things have been getting better, but it has been a long and tedious process!
I'm glad that everyone is mending, and yes the human spirit can be so strong! You are full of that Spirit for taking charge and helping everyone!
Jeff
I am so sorry to hear that Jeff, you work so hard and do so much to help all of them. I am glad things are improving for you at last. ((((Hugs)))).
Thank you, I just do what I have to do to keep things going.
Thank you for the kind words, Linda! I think that we all do that, my friend! I hope that things keep improving going forward!
Jeff
Thanks, Linda, and you are so right about that. Once all that is restored, things will be a lot better!

Thanks for the great post, Linda. Sometimes when we are new to something it can be very overwhelming and we give up... You offer a very practical solution...ASK!
Asking for a friend,
Karin
Thank you Karin. Better to ask than give up.
The "asking for a friend" part made me laugh, its something my younger brother says often.
