First, how many of you are familiar with Attachment Pages?

I found this article that explains Attachment Pages in WordPress:

In reading the article that you linked to, it appears that they are searchable -

...By choosing relevant images for your content, writing nice captions and image descriptions you can add that much more relevant content to your site, increasing your SEO standing while providing more for your users to do.

So they are searchable by default as long as you include the relevant information as the article instructs.

Thanks! However, that articles mentions searchable as in from Google search. Some of my attachment pages are Google indexed and able to be searched from Google, but that's not my problem.

I need to be able to search for them using the built-in WordPress search on my site.

Obviously, my site's Theme supports Attachment Pages, and I already have them, but how can I allow my in-site Search to use them? Do I need to add a custom search plugin? Or is it possible to use the default, built-in Search?

If you click the links I provided, you'll clearly see that there's an Attachment Page for "Tangela (STS 1)", and on that Attachment Page it clearly says "Tangela" within the description (also in the Alt tag for the image).

However, run a search for "Tangela" and you'll find results for only "Generations", "XY-Evolutions", and "XY-Steam Siege", the 3 pages that include "Tangela" on the page, but not for the Tangela Attachment Page. That's what I need.

Ah, OK. If the generic search box is not working (and apparently it is not), then I would Google 'How do I search WordPress Attachment pages from within WordPress' (I'm on mobile right now and can't search for you.

It seems that I'm unable to login using the WordPress mobile app for iPhone to edit my WordPress site. I've confirmed that the password and URL I'm entering are correct.

Hi Lincoln, were you able to solve this problem?

I am able to log in to my WA-hosted WP site from the official WP mobile app for iPhone.

It was a rather convoluted process.

I had to create a WP.com profile before I could log into the app to manage my WP.org site. I think you also have to link all your WP.org sites to that WP.com profile, like your Namecheap-hosted site. And I think you've got to use the Jetpack plugin on your site.

Please let me know if this helps you at all. And if you've found a solution in the meantime. I notice you posted this a few weeks ago.

One thing, I can't use the WP app to moderate comments. I've just checked with SiteSupport if it's any back-end issue or Jetpack conflict, have yet to hear back.

Unfortunately I don't think it's possible. I've been trying to the same. I can only assume that because the site is hosted by WA their is some kind of restriction. If you do find a solution let us know.

Users will always be able to log in from domainname.com/wp-admin - regardless of device. However, the secure passwords we use here should prevent monkey business.

Yeah, I can login from that URL in any browser, but using the WordPress-made mobile app, I get an error "unable to login" using the same credentials. It's not critical, but it would be nice to easily edit posts and pages on-the-go. Using the mobile browser just stinks.

These sites are not compatible with the WordPress app - that's only for blogs hosted at WordPress.

You can add sites that are self-hosted

I already have another self-hosted (non-WA site) working.

I have tried that, and have NEVER been able to get it to work on a site not hosted at wordpress. I think in this instance they mean 'a purchased domain hosted at wordpress' not 'a domain hosted elsewhere.'

I have a wordpress site hosted by Namecheap with my own domain working...

Weird... I know it can work, but I wonder why...

The FAQ mentions something like "make sure your hosting provider has XML-PRC services enabled."

...and following that FAQ I don't have a "remote publishing" section under Settings - Writing, so I can't enable it from the WordPress Admin.

My other site (hosted on Namecheap), running the same version of WordPress, does have that setting.

Ah, then that is your problem. It could be theme related, some themes do not allow remote posting.
