10 Nov 2014: I have experience in Graphic Design, Marketing Communications, Event organising, Real Estate... With a bit of IT savvy, I hope all these will add up to be a good combination of what is to come with this new endeavour. Currently at a crossroads, am glad I've stumbled upon WA, and ambassadors such as Nathaniell and affilicoach! Looking forward!

Update (4 Dec 2015): After a year on the free account, I've gone Premium with the annual Black Friday promo. I'm definitely in a different place compared to when I first joined a year ago. I've gotten married, joined my husband in the Finance industry, etc. Will be using what I've learnt in WA to help with my effort to grow my new financial planning business, and be working on the other websites I have had in mind ever since I first joined — it's time!

Update (10 Apr 2016): My first site is up and running. The site needs improvement still, but hey, gotta give myself credit where it's due. Due to privacy issues, I won't be disclosing the URL here, but you are welcome to PM me :)

Update (17 Jun 2016): I had to make some tough decisions regarding domains and websites recently. You can read about it here https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/pamdemonium/blog/tough-decisions

Likewise! Due to personal reasons, I'd like to say that I'm able to relate to your "invisible illness" of Aspergers. The stigma for mental health related issues in Singapore is really high, and annoyingly so.

Glad you found your way here to WA; I plan to introduce WA to more Singaporeans in 2017!

I found the training work quite well for me. I have to say that I got some career offers as a Digital Marketer and that is why now I felt inspired to be an UX designer too.

Yes, I do not dare to tell anyone that I have Aspergers in Singapore because I felt that people will look at me like Leper and hence, I keep queit about it all my life.
Reply
pamdemonium Premium
I know what you mean!!! Sigh...

I used to be a graphic designer, so "digital design" like UX is so foreign to me! But these kinda courses seem very popular and trendy nowadays. But really pricey. I know places like General Assembly offer them...

Looks like we have something else in common. We're both night owls
Reply

The job offers that I have is Freelancing, so it fit my schedule perfectly lol.

Nah, I planning to take up the free trial course with Career Foundry as I read a lot of positive reviews on them

Yup! My husband and I visit prata shops pretty often (bad for health I know). Even our wedding video was filmed at the one we used to frequent before we got married, near his mom's place ;)

Reply

Hahaha...you're right but then we love those oily stuff (maybe pig's oil) so much and so tasty right? lol, You're right, my wife always try to stop me eating those stiff and also Indian rojak ;( The prata must be at Jalan Kayu which you frequent?

You like white and I like black but the common thing is that it's carrot cake based lol.

You like char kway teow too?

Now I'm inspired to do up a website/forum on local food that Singaporeans miss when they live/work abroad! Haha...

No, it's not at Jalan Kayu, though we have been there a number of times. We like The Roti Prata House at Upper Thomson http://www.hungrygowhere.com/singapore/the_roti_prata_house/ RK Eating House at Serangoon Gardens http://www.burpple.com/rk-eating-house (fantastic cheese prata with mozzarella cheese~!), Julaiha at Macpherson https://www.facebook.com/pages/Julaiha-Muslim-Restaurant/189823267717513 (ayam goreng is super), etc etc etc... :D

Hey, I just wanted to check in and see if had a chance to start exploring Wealthy Affiliate. I know that when I first joined WA I got serious information overload. I didn't really know where to get started or what exactly I was meant to be doing.

If you haven't started the Online Entrepreneur Certification Course - that's a good place to start. It'll take you through the whole process of what online marketing is, and how to build a successful website. Click the green"Get Started Here" button on the left.

If you're seriously lost or need help with ANYTHING, drop me a message on my profile or ask someone in chat :) Live chat is an awesome tool and there's usually someone that can solve your problem right away!

Hi Nathaniell (or do you prefer Nate/Nathan?), thanks for dropping me a note. I've been going through your daily courses, I've received Day 4 now. I've not had the chance to go through all of the lessons in Course 1 of the Online Entrepreneur Certification Course yet, but I will.

I don't have any pressing questions for now. But at the top of my head:
1) I understand with Premium, one can have an unlimited number of websites and also, sign up for an unlimited number of domain names, is this correct?
2) Are you currently hosting your websites with WA's provisions for websites, or have you bought your own hosting and domains? I understand there's more freedom with the latter, and more stuff included like say, email addresses etc...
3) When one signs up for Premium, is the "only payment" to WA the recurring monthly subscription? For all video courses etc training, are any for sale/chargeable?
4) Is Social Media marketing a training topic covered in Premium?

Thanks again for your 5-day course material. So far, I like your training style. It's practical and down-to-earth. You also incidentally look like someone I know(!) Looking forward to hearing back :)
Reply
nathaniell Premium
1. The unlimited websites part is that you can build as many siterubix sites as you want. They will all be website.siterubix.com. You can also host unlimited domains that you purchase outside WA. They are about $11/year. WA does no sell .com domains and does not give them for free.

2. You get email addresses with WA. WA hosting is perfect if you do not already have outside hosting. It's free too! You can always move your sites later if you want.

3. It's a recurring payment. The regular cost is $47/month. There are no other costs. If you want, there is a keyword tool they offer for $19/month but if you don't want that, you can use the free one inside WA.

4. Yes, social media is covered in Level 4 of your training, and there are many member-created training modules as well as live webinar recordings on the topic.
Reply
pamdemonium Premium
1. I know that the two free sites on siterubix are like "learner" sites, training wheels on a bicycle. I am keen to get the ball rolling with those two free sites, but also want to understand how easy it is to get my own domain name and point it what I build on siterubix.
- Do I need to use a URL forwarder?
- I just read up on some DNS stuff on Kyle's article titled "WA Hosting - Setting Up Your Domain DNS", is this applicable?
- Or must I choose "On A Domain I Own" when on Site Builder from the onset?
- Will I have to "migrate" the site if need be?
I don't want to start investing time and effort on something because I hope to continue building what I started, and the last thing I want is not to be able to depart from the URL being website. siterubix. com.

2. Where are the email addresses from WA? Or is that feature only visible to those on Premium?

Btw, is the 7-day deadline to sign up for Premium first month being at $19 a hard deadline? Once I miss it by a day, I will have to pay full price of $47 for the first month?

Thanks! :)
Reply
nathaniell Premium
You can easily transfer your current content on the siterubix sites to your own domain when you buy one. That is done within WA and takes a few seconds only.

Domains are bought outside WA at a registrar of your choice. Namecheap is recommended.

DNS is something for ALL websites. It just tells your domain where to find your website files. You set it up once, then it's done.

You will get unlimited email addresses with your WA account, but they will relate to your domain. If you buy mywebsite.com, then your address will be something@mywebsite.com

They do extend the discount if you miss it within the 7 day trial, but I forget when, and for how long. Try to make it, but if not, you will have a 2nd chance.
Reply
pamdemonium Premium
Thanks Nat. Just so I know, must one be on Premium before site contents can be transferred over to a domain I buy?

Also, just to clarify, a domain is just the URL right? Hosting is something separate altogether, and my site will still be hosted on WA, on siterubix, after site contents are "transferred" to a domain I buy, yes?
Reply
nathaniell Premium
Yes, you must be premium to host other types of domains here.

Yes, domain = URL. Hosting is where your website files are stored. WA does this for free for premium members.

You're getting it! :)

Hi Pam, Nathaniell here. Welcome to Wealthy Affiliate!

I'm glad to see you've signed up and are ready to get started.

Right now, there are just two things you need to know.
