Lewis often students are away from home for the first time. They are having to deal with finances and housing. Shoot even cooking and cleaning. Try to provide them something they need. What are their challenges? What do they struggle with? Provide answers to some of those areas

Think you are on to something here, go for it! You can make it broader down the road. Also, your first niche is (in most cases) probably not your last so don´t feel like it is the "written in stone decision" here.

I couldn't say if it would be too narrow or not, but if I was to do just strings, I would expand past just guitars.You could generate quite a bit of content off of just coated strings. Short term and long term reviews. Different brands. Different gauge sets. Different instruments, bass, guitar, electric guitar, etc. Do they make coated strings for the other stringed instruments? Videos. You could always expand to different aspects down the road too, like other accessories.
Sure thing! You could get some interviews in there perhaps too, down the road. That would be cool to hear why the pros like or dislike coated strings.

If you can't come up with 5+ pages of different content, I would use Guitars - Electric guitars, non-electric guitars, sheet music, picks, speakers etx

I think I would go with the Guitars and the other topics listed in the last sentence unless there is a lot of types of guitar strings to talk about. I am not familiar with strings...
