- Problem solving- you know how to apply your skills and knowledge to challenges and problems
YOU ARE THE FINANCIAL OFFICER
You are expected to:
- Prepare a budget
- Do a business plan
- Understand the basics of taxes
- Do the banking
- Handle insurance
You need these skills:
- Match and accounting- you know how to balance your bank account
- Financial planning- you know how to budget and plan for the future
YOU ARE THE TECHNOLOGY ASSISTANT
You are expected to:
- Understand the importance and value of technology in the work place
- Ensure that 'YOUR COMPANY', has the necessary equipment and software
- Know how to access and use the Internet
You need these skills:
- Computer- you have basic computer skills such as keyboarding and word processing
YOU ARE THE MARKETING OFFICER
You are expected to:
- Search out work opportunities
- Network to develop contacts
- Promote your skills, expertise
- Make phone calls to prospective clients
- Write cover letters and resumes to promote yourself
- Develop interview strategies
You need these skills:
- Analysis- you see trends and opportunities
- Creativity- you come up with good promotional strategies
- Communications- you explain 'YOUR COMPANY' to potential clients
- Interpersonal- you know how to deal with people
- Customer relations- you know how to develop good relationships
YOU ARE THE OFFICE MANAGER
You are expected to:
- Handle day-to-day activities
- Keep affairs running smoothly
- Handle contracts details
- Mail out invoices and pay bills
You need these skills:
- Organization- you handle details and keep things running in schedule
- Time management- you know how to pace yourself to get the work done
YOU ARE THE HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICER
You are expected to:
- Keep track of trends in employment and skills
- Ensure that 'YOUR COMPANY'. has the right skills and knowledge for today's workplace
- Understand your strengths
- Know where you have the gaps in your knowledge
- Set up a learning programs to help you build needed skins skills
You need these skills:
- Learning - you're curious and interested in new knowledge
- Research- you know how to find information.

It can certainly get overwhelming at times.. & of course you are also the Production Officer.. you need to produce something of value that you can exchange with others.. i better get back to work.. ha ha ~)
In a nutshell, two qualifications you need to be self-employed. You need to be smart enough to pull it off, and stupid enough to put up with it.
