Pushing Through The Dips in Your Business

Hey Everyone,

Today, I want to talk about a truth every entrepreneur faces: business dips happen.

Every successful business, whether a multi-billion-dollar enterprise or a solo venture, has its ups and downs. It comes with the territory of running a business...and the same thing happens in life.

The "Expected" Downturns...

Business downturns can be caused by many factors. Perhaps an economy in flux, changes in technology, leadership shifts in your business, or even personal life events (especially if you are a solo entrepreneur). These dips are a natural part of the journey.

They are not a sign that your business is failing; they are moments where the real test of your resilience begins, and what can lead to your future growth, and success.

How to Handle the Lows.

Based on my 23 years of running a full-time online business, here are some lessons I’ve learned about surviving the lows:

  • Persist Through the Tough Times: The moments when everything seems difficult are the ones that can lead to your greatest successes. If you push through these challenges, you're likely to come out stronger on the other side.
  • Understand That Quitting is Easy: It may seem natural to give up when things are at their worst. It's the EASIEST thing to do. But the real winners are those who persist when their competitors give up. In fact, many of your competitors might quit at the first sign of trouble.
  • Learn and Grow: Every setback provides valuable lessons and knowledge. These experiences prepare you for the bigger wins that lie ahead in your business journey.

One of the benefits of sticking with your business during the tough times is that you often find that many around you have already given up. This creates less competition when the tide turns, placing you in a stronger position to capture success.

I would love to hear your experiences with business dips. How have you pushed through the tough times? Share your strategies and stories in the comments below and help inspire others on their journey.

When there are dips in the business - as you said Kyle, there always are - I tend to use dips for ways to improve me and my business.

Some of the things I look at are:
1. What's something new I can learn to improve my skills and/or knowledge for running my business
2. What improvements can I make within my business - look at lead magnets, offers, funnels etc.
3. Is it time to upgrade - the website; courses; the brand; the technology; funnels; marketing systems - the list is endless.
4. Can I add a new product or service and fill a gap in my niche
5. Work on new marketing strategies.

When there are dips, don't think about giving up, think of it as an opportunity to improve yourself and your business.

Absolutely Karen, you have a great attitude and an organized approach here to dealing with the dips...which as you mention are just opportunities to improve yourself and your business. :)

Those who win don’t win because they never stumble—they win because they don’t quit when they do. They adapt. They reflect. They remind themselves: “Hold on—I’ll make it.”

So if you're in a dip right now, breathe. Step back, regroup, and re-engage. That next breakthrough might be one more email, one bold pitch, or one fresh idea away.

Never give up, folks. You didn’t come this far just to come this far.

Well said. Love this Kieran, and it is so true. I think now more than ever with a lot of unknowns in the economy and with so many changes in technology, there are more people feeling the "dips" than ever...so I thought this would be timely.

It is just part of the process of the journey, they happen, and pushing forward through them creates more opportunity on the other side (and there is lots of it).

Thanks for sharing! :)

Great topic choice Kyle!

1

Thanks Kyle for the insights, I have been going through these ups and downs when I felt I was on top of things. I have been feeling so frustrated thinking I would have completed my website by now, but anyway I appreciate you sharing this information, I will persist through the hard times rather than giving up until I make it.

2

Definitely do persist. The thing is most people naturally quit when the going gets tough (and this applies to anything). Have a little resilience and you will not only learn more and become more skilled in the process, there will be more success waiting for you on the other side.

2

Thanks Kyle for your kind words. I really appreciate it.

There are days when I wonder how many more of these rides I can really live with. For me the last decade has had me on the brink of massive success, epic failure and ever since bubbling along just over and under broke or broken. Not sure how to work my way out of it, but still going and trying and learning.

3

Well the only option is to push forward. Many won't (your competition), and this clears the way for more success. There are trialing times, and there are successful times. Navigating forward and making progress, advancing your skill sets, and pushing through the bumps should be the only option...that is what will translate into success.

An,
You have to keep pushing through. Times are tough not just for you but for so many of your clients and potential clients but you have so many fantastic products and services that will benefit so many.

1

Thanks Karen. I am aware I am not alone and I will keep pushing on. Sometimes it is too much and sometimes I can happily move with the flow.

1

An,

The products you create are a game-changer for businesses.

I think it's getting your message out to them.

Maybe look at your marketing strategy.

How are you getting in front of your perfect avatar?

Can you improve your message?

How can you improve organic marketing?

It doesn't need to cost you more money, it just needs to bring in the right people consistently. With one of your products for small businesses, organic can work just as effectively as paid marketing.

I'll message you through here.

I totally agree with this sentiment. A few months ago, I wrote a WA blog about walking the Great Wall of China and the lessons it taught me about keeping going through the ups and downs, which echoes this sentiment.

But today, I had another thought that I'd like to share, which is just this image that I'm going to put on my Facebook page too!

Hope you like it.

I love your image - and it's so apt. Your healthy business resembles the graph of a heartbeat - typical healthy ups and downs. The dead business - no heartbeat.

3

That's the idea - glad you like it!
